Custom Toys of the Week: Sen and Fuller

These awesome Monkey King Dunnys were made by Sen.  I was planning on telling you where you could purchase them, but they're already sold out.  It's no wonder because they do not suck.  You can check out more of his toys that are also not available anymore by going to http://sen.storenvy.com/.

I like me some Batman as you may well know and these Mini Munny versions of The Scarecrow and Killer Croc by James Fuller are great interpretations of two classic bad guys.  If you have a spare $250 you can own these guys right now by checking out http://fullerdesigns.bigcartel.com/.  The amount of detail he gets in every figure blows me away every time I see one.

Both of these guys deserve their own production toys and hopefully a company will come along and make it happen.  In the mean time save your pennies and get their customs while you still can.

Zukies from Alison Perez

I work a lot so sometimes I'm late to the party when it comes to new things.  I had seen these guys before and said to myself "oh, I should write about those" and then I went and scooped cat litter and forgot all about what I was going to do.   I have a gentle helping of the ADHD but I finally have gotten around to tell you about Zukies.

Zukies are the creation of artist Alison Perez who basically uses every material she can find to bring these critters to life.

And for those of you that fancy yourself artists, there will soon be a DIY Zukie for you to customize.  These are slated to be available in May and I'll have more info on them soon.

Toy2r Spring Sale

I'll admit it, I'm kinda cheap, so when I see that stuff I love is on sale I get a little tingly.  Toy2r is having their spring sale where you can save 20% off of everything and 30% off of orders of $100 or more.  I love toys.  I love cheap toys even more.

The Sucklord at Munky King This Friday

Munky King understands what the people want and that is more Sucklord. For some reason he hasn't gotten his own spin off show yet (just call it The Desperate Toy Maker of Chinatown and get the thing on the air already Bravo, ya jerks). Of course The Sucklord would not fly all the way to California to meet his adoring public without having some way to take all of their money. Thus I present to you the Sucklord 43:

Pretty fancy huh? This hand bootlegged figure will be released this Friday, March 30th at Munky King in Los Angeles. I want one, but since I live 3,000 miles away I don't think it's gonna happen for me. But if you can get yourself there it is destined to be one of toy events of the year.

April Ninja of the Month from Shawnimals

Whatcha know bout an Eel Ninja? I know a few things, like for instance, this is the April Ninja of the Month from Shawnimals. He comes out on April 4th at 1pm CDT for only $30 American dollar bills. As per usual there are only 100 hand made dudes available and they consigned and numbered. I also know that he could take Aquaman in a fight. I don't care how many fish you can have conversations with cause that won't get you very far with an aquatic ninja.

Ajee x K. Olin Tribu Kosplay Porcelain Edition Update

So it looks like tomorrow is the big day for the release of Ajee's Kosplay Porcelain Edition through K. Olin Tribu.  There will only be twelve sets of figures available and each comes packaged in a special wooden box.  The set will retail for $630, which is expensive, but these things were evidently very hard to make.  Plus, you know this really transcends just being a typical toy and is a real work of art.

Pink Prowler Casket Cruiser from Super7

Does the color pink make a coffin less creepy or does it take the creepiness to an entire new level? What about a coffin that doubles as a car driven buy a guy with a rose bud for a head? Super7 are unleashing this guy on the world next Thursday April 5th. He's called the Pink Prowler Casket Cruiser (which seems a pretty accurate description) and can be yours for $65. I actually really like this color way because it is so different from what I'm normally interested in. See, I can accept change. Sometimes. When it doesn't involve food, or differences in my routine. And it doesn't cost me money. Or moving to a new place. Or involves a doctor. I hate change.

MonsterPants Toys Presents The Sea-Borgs

James Felix McKenney has mastered time management on a cosmic level. The man behind MonsterPants somehow finds the time to make movies, distribute independent films, do a radio show, and make killer toys that you're gonna want to give him money for. His latest creations are the Sea-Borgs, a set of three figures all hand made in resin. You could pick up any one of them for $20, or you could get the entire set for $50. These little guys have a ton of personality and a pretty cool back story to boot. Check out http://monsterpants.net/ pick these guys up for yourself.

Ultimate Collector Series R2-D2 Lego

Be prepared.  I only wrote about Star Wars stuff today.  I know.  I let you down.  Now you sound like my real dad.

This Ultimate Collector Series R2-D2 from Lego is pretty sick.  You build it from 2,127 pieces, which means you shouldn't let your cats anywhere near it because they will surely sneak off with a few without you noticing.   It does more than just sit there and wait for you to knock it off the book shelf.  The third leg retracts (I'm not going to say it),  the head rotates, other things open and close and it makes ice cream.  Ok, not that last part.  He can be yours in May for $180 direct from Lego.

Darth Malgus Life Size Figure from Sideshow Collectibles

The term "life size figure" conjures up a lot of weird images for me.  Most of them are not family friendly and I would prefer that I not have ever heard of them.  But this puts a more innocent spin on what could otherwise be a scandalous thing you have have to be 18 years or older to purchase.  This giant Darth Malgus makes me wish how all of my old Star Wars toys had all been life size.  Just picture a backyard filled with giant plastic space men!!!!!  You could bring all of your friends over to help you move them around and recreate scenes from the movie and you could laugh when Chewbacca falls over and crushes your one annoying friend who always smells like old cheese but no one will tell him cause his dad taught him how to bar fight.

So anyway, I saw one of these at New York Comic Con last year and I could not figure out how to steal it.  Now I just have to steal enough money to buy one from Sideshow Collectibles when this sucker is released.  They won't reveal any more info until May 27th on this guy, so you should sign up for their email list in case I forget to tell you about it.

Rsin x Lysol Greads Available Tomorrow

Ok, let's make something very clear.  I would smack a baby to own one of these.  I'm not even kidding.    Bring your little misbehaving child over here and I will slap them in the kisser for this toy.  Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but I still want one pretty badly.  We've all seen Lysol's creation Gread before, but we've never seem him with the added stylings of Rsin!  These will be available Tuesday, March 27th at noon eastern time for only $20 each. $20 for a hand made and hand painted toy?  That's practically giving them away.  If you're even considering getting one of these you better be near a computer ready to make it happen because these will sell out instantly.  Of course I have to work when they're being released, which bums me out to no end.  But you'll have to live my dream for me and snatch one of these guys up.

Batman vs. Joker Artfx Statue from Kotobukiya

Oh, snap!  It's gonna be hard for the Joker to laugh so much with his jaw wired shut.  This epic statue of epicness (that is the word of the day) is brought to you by the amazingly talented folks at Kotobukiya.  This is based on a scene from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and stands over a foot tall!  That's pretty big.

This will be available later on in the year and will retail for around $130.

The Elder Thing from Skinner

There are certain things I like in life; things that make me less likely to snap and go on a killing spree.  Cats are one of those things.  Slurpees are another.  But I also love metal, epicness, and H.P. Lovecraft which are but three of the many ingredients in this awesome toy.  Based on the classic Lovecraft tale In the Mouth of Madness, this Elder Thing was created by Skinner and Jay222 and can bring a bit of literary classiness to your home for only $100.  Oh, and they go on sale today at noon so you should probably stop looking for Olivia Munn's leaked pictures and buy yourself this monster that is beyond all that you can fathom.

Custom Toy Event of the Week: Bellicosity

I'm switching up the Custom Toy of the Week feature up a bit this Friday to tell you about an amazing custom toy show.  Why you ask?  Cause I want to sucka!

Nathan Hamill is pleased to present to you Bellicosity, taking place tonight at Toy Art Gallery In Los Angeles.  All of the artists involved took Nathan's Bellicose Bunny toy and added their own spin on it turning in some amazing, and disturbing (thank you Luke Chueh for things I cannot unsee) customs.  See toys from Jon-Paul Kaiser, Rsin, Julie West, Touma and tons more.   If you live in the Los Angeles area you should go cause what else are you doing tonight?  Stalking George Clooney?  Stalking Angelina Jolie?  Stalking Betty White?  I've never been to L.A. but I've always assumed that people do a lot of stalking to pass the time.

Patricio Oliver Wants You to Pick His Next Toy Design

Recently, a lot of people have been interested in toy collector's opinions.  Most of the time I am more than willing to give mine whether it is solicited or not, so it's nice for a change to actually be asked.  Patricio Oliver and Unbox Industries want you to decide what the next figure they produce will be.  You have the choices pictured above and the figure with the most votes will join the crazy world of The Tenebrae.  You only have until March 28th to let your voice be heard and as an added incentive, one person will be randomly chosen to win one of the figures once its made.  It's better than voting for the president because you won't feel dumb afterwards when he screws the whole country up (not that that happens in EVERY election) plus you never win anything from politicians but higher taxes.  Go here and cast your vote now:  http://www.facebook.com/TheTenebrae

Kidrobot's MunnyWorld is Getting Taller

I don't fancy myself a toy customizer.  I've made a few (even sold one) but I am in no way on the same level as most of the sick creations you see floating around the internet.  Now those artists will have some new platforms to work on as Kidrobot has announced it is making all of their hugely popular Munnyworld characters into 7 inch versions.  They'll be as tall as the original Munny and have a lot more surface area for people to utilize.  These larger figures will be available starting April 12th for $19.95 each and will come with mystery accessories.

Aurora Mixed Glow Greasebat by Jeffrey Lamm x Monster Worship

With all the focus on his new Spike Wad figure you may have thought Jeffrey Lamm had forgotten all about the mighty Greasebat.  But you would have been wrong because how else is there a new one coming out?  This is the Aurora Mixed Glow edition, based on the old Aurora model kits that had interchangeable parts that lit up in the dark.  You can get yourself this eco friendly night light for $75 tomorrow,  March 23rd from the Monster Worship store.

Walking Dead Minimates Available for Preorder

Hopefully by now you've seen the season finale of The Walking Dead.  If you haven't don't worry, I promise I won't ruin the surprise for you.  But now since you're thinking about zombies it would be the perfect time to preorder your set of Walking Dead Minimates.  You can either get Rick with a zombie, Dale with a zombie, or two zombies together.  Or just get them all and stop being a baby about it.  I'm kinda shocked that Dale was included in the first wave of figures, as we all know Daryl is the best character on the show.  I think they should do a spinoff series called Daryl Dixon: Biggest Bad Ass of the Zombie Apocalypse.  It will be like the Dukes of Hazard meets Mad Max, with maybe a touch of the Cosby Show.  You know, for the kids.

Ajee in Porcelain from K. Olin Tribu

I raved a ton about this figure when it was originally released in vinyl late last year.  It's called Kosplay and it is the design of french artist Ajee.   And just when you thought it couldn't get any better the folks at K. Olin Tribu have decided to make a porcelain edition.  Here are a bunch of pics of what it will look like.  No idea on price or release date yet, but if you want one I would save my money because it won't be cheap, but it will be worth it.

Glossy Mega Munnys from Kidrobot

I am loving these. I know the Munny platform is generally meant to be customized but I don't think I could bring myself to change these one bit. The glossy finish makes enough of a statement as it is, and as big as they are there is no way they wouldn't be the center of any room or collection. I think they'd also make a pretty killer dry erase board. Imagine writing down your grocery list or a maybe us it next to the phone to take messages on for the folks you live with.

Now the important stuff. These will be available April 12th for $250. From the folks at Kidrobot. Yeah, they're not cheap, but they're stylish and people will be impressed with your good taste. How many times will that realistically happen in your lifetime?

Triclops x Unbox Industries Present PeeNut

When I was a wee lad there was nothing better than getting that little plastic garbage can filled with M.U.S.C.L.E. figures from the toy store and having epic wrestling matches until I passed out. Or the dog chewed the arms off and I had to save for another batch. Now Triclops and Unbox Industries are allowing me to relive those memories with PeeNut, the first Mega B.A.S.T.A.R.D. figure. All three colors of this angry legume will be available the first week of April for $45 each. Oh, and they're limited to 200 pieces. Luckily my cats don't seem to have a taste for my toys, cause I'm feeling the need for an old school WWF throwdown!

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

    OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Secret Base x Toy Art Gallery Spongebob X-Ray

Ever wondered what was going on inside Spongebob?  No, me neither, because a real sponge has absolutely nothing happening in its innards.  Just little holes everywhere that are good for little more than scrubbing your bathtub (which is filthy by the way).  But I have been proven wrong by the combined efforts of Secret Base and Toy Art Gallery who present this Spongebob X-Ray figure.  Standing at 5 inches tall, this pants wearing kitchen tool is exposing himself for the world to see that there is more to him than previously thought by science.  He has a skeleton!!!!  I guess that makes sense since he does have teeth and whatnot, but still I am shocked by this revelation.

You can own this figure and a cool t-shirt for $185 right now by checking out: http://www.toyartgallery.com/.

Super7 x Bwana Spoons Frederick the Beetle

Introducing the newest character to join the Super7 family, Frederick the Beetle.  This little guy is the brainchild of Bwana Spoons and is just down right cute.  There, I said it.  I have feelings sometimes.  Unlike most Super7 releases, they are actually throwing a party to introduce this new critter to the masses.  So if you're in the San Francisco area clear your calendar on March 24th and take part in all the excitement.  Here are the details:

Bwana Spoons's Frederick Fest!
Saturday, March 24th @ 11AM Pacific
Super7 Store
1427 Haight Street

Yo Gabba Gabba Pop! Vinyl from Funko

When I was younger we had our share of weird children's programming that was meant to keep us busy while our parents went to work, or to the bar. I was babysat by a host of characters including Scooby Doo, Mr. Rogers, and The Dukes of Hazard (that wasn't a kids show?). Now those little rug rats have Yo Gabba Gabba to keep them busy with a menagerie of colorful characters and killer songs. Funko now let's you bring the whole cast home as part of their POP! Vinyl toys series. They're coming out in May and are ultra affordable so you won't feel too bad about buying them all. Plus it we support this show hopefully they'll never bring the Teletubbies back. Those things freak me out.

New Gumdrops from 64 Colors

What's this? It looks like a tub full of goodness from the design duo 64 Colors. There are a ton of different colors of their Gumdrop character, which are just down right cute. What's great about these is that they're not blind boxed, so you can get the whole set with little difficulty. And who wouldn't want one of each? These are produced by Squibbles Ink and Rotofugi and will be available March 23rd for only $5.95 each.  Check out this picture of all 12 different versions.

Custom Toy of the Week: Josh Mayhem

Ummmmm the word WOW comes to mind.  Check out this toy called "Buggs The Toxic Bunny" from customizer Josh Mayhem.  He is part of a larger group of figures known as The Askew Rangers, who are a collective of heavily armed forest critters (there's a group shot down a bit further).  This and others from the series are available now via Tenacious Toys at pretty reasonable prices considering the amount of work that is involved with each one.  If you like what you see and want to commission something or just browse his other work, check Mr. Mayhem out in the following spots:

The Amazing Spider Man Minimates

Ok, I have definitely been caught up in all the excitement for the new Batman and Avengers movies this summer and forgot all about Spider-Man. Well now I'm making it up to him by showing you this new line of Minimates inspired by the film. The top picture shows the assortment that will be available at ToysRUs and the bottom picture is of the figures you can get at comic book and specialty shops. Like the movie, they will be available this summer.

More Kuso Vinyl Exclusives at Wondercon

So Wondercon is this week in Anaheim, California and if you're like me, you can't go. But we can still drool over all the awesome toys that will be available and prepare ourselves to pay tons of money on eBay for those we can't live without. Kuso Vinyl has some cool releases this year including The Forest Warlord from Bigfoot. The gigantic figure will be on display but unfortunately will not be for sale just yet. But fear not, you can always pick this next guy up to help you get over your disappointment.

Check out this Dragon King figure from artist kaNO. For $65 you can get this Bruce Lee-esque toy that is limited to 250 pieces and the artist himself will be available to sign them for you.

I'm sorry I don't have anything funnier to say about this. I'm kinda tired and watching episodes of The Bad Girls Club that I've missed. If I was president I would mandate girl fights on television every night. Vote for me in 2012.
