Octoberry Custom Octopups from Nathan Hamill

I'm terrible at doing anything that's good for me, but I'm most terrible at eating well.  Seriously, I eat like a stubborn 10 year old.  Sometimes I'll try and trick my body and buy a carton of strawberries, but then I just dump packets of sugar on them to make them palatable.  Until they release a study naming donuts as a healthy alternative to vegetables its just going to be a matter of time before I die from snacks.

Nathan Hamill painted up 8 of his Octopups to look like strawberries.  If you would like to own one they go on sale today (September 25th) at noon Pacific at http://nathanhamill.bigcartel.com/.  And they're only $25.  For custom painted toys?  That's a bargain my friends.

Two New Exclusives from 3DRetro Available Now

The documentary Planet of the Apes has given us all insight into what our future holds.  Not only is it the first documentary to showcase events that have yet to happen, it's the first ever one that was brought to us courtesy of our eventual understanding of time travel.  We made some crazy advancements in technology before the monkeys took over.  That hoverboard from Back to the Future?  Yeah, we finally figured that one out too.  So we know the monkeys are gonna break out of the labs and enslave us all, so why not be prepared by putting this guy on your mantel.  That way, when they break into your house to send you to the salt mines they'll see that you were a loyal monkey revolution supporter and may choose to not throw poop at you.  SSUR designed these and this army green version is an exclusive to 3DRetro.  Get one now, and avoid getting pink eye from a flying turd to the face.

The Octopup Revolt, as we all know, was squashed by a malnourished flock of seagulls.  Their little march onto the beach was adorable, but little did they know of the horrors that circled above their little heads.  Pity, as they would have made better leaders than those damn dirty apes.  Nathan Hamill brought some of these back to Singapore just for you, where they were an exclusive at a huge show that you couldn't go to.  Well fret not, because now you can complete your Octopup collection!!!!  All is now right in the world.  Till the monkeys get loose of course, but you knew that.

Sandstorm Strife and Sire from Nathan Hamill x 3DRetro for STGCC

I recently started watching Breaking Bad and have made it now to season three.  I love the show and have actually learned a lot from it:

1.)  Making meth = making a lot of money but people that are on meth are crazy which = scary situations.

2.) They love eating breakfast in New Mexico.  Seriously, name an episode in which they don't eat breakfast.

3.) The desert is trying to kill you at all times.  That's what it does for fun.

So this edition of Strife and Sire from Nathan Hamill x 3DRetro makes me a little nervous.  The bat guy on the top makes me think of the beautiful scenery of the desert, the unique wildlife, the peacefulness.  But that skull he's standing on makes me think of my Winnebago/mobile drug lab breaking down in the middle of nowhere and me being reduced to food for carrion birds.  Some people would say that I'm way over thinking this whole thing.  Those people would be called my therapist.

This guy is an exclusive for the Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention this weekend and Nathan will actually be there to sign these and whatever else you happen to have.

3DRetro SDCC Exclusives Now Available Online

You know you wanted all of these toys.  You know you almost shorted out your laptop from drooling at everyone's pictures from San Diego Comic Con.  Drool no more my friends, as these exclusive toys can be yours without having to experience the smell of nerds packed together like sardines.  It's a unique funk let me tell you.  And who likes waiting in line for hours and hours just to spend money?  It's like "Here, let me be as uncomfortable as possible for a long period of time for the privilege of having my wallet emptied."  I'm still mad that I couldn't go.

3DRetro had some of the best exclusives and thankfully they had some left overs.  Take a peak and if you like what you see you can visit www.3dretro.com and pick some up.

My Top 10 Things I Want from SDCC

It seems the popular thing to do on blogs is to create lists.  Fearing criminal prosecution from most of the lists I would like to post, I instead decided to make a list of 10 things I would like to own from San Diego Comic Con.  These are in no particular order.

Anytime someone around me is complaining of any physical ailment I always tell them that their symptoms are consistent with that of a tapeworm living in their gut.  Thus far, I have only been successful at getting one person to actually go to the doctor with this concern, but I keep trying.

Ferg x Grody Shogun made this Young Gohst with a major parasitic issue for Lulubell Toy Bodega's booth #5045.  Get one on Saturday for $45.

Ferg also made this big ol suicidal cat for Rotofugi's booth #5248 starting tonight for $120.

I pretty much want everything Frank Kozik makes, but I narrowed it down to two things I really really really want.  First up is the hand painted Mr. Monsanto.  This releases tomorrow at 2pm at his booth #5051 for $100.

The second thing is this Mishka collaboration Labbit from Kidrobot.  I haven't even seen what it looks like but I know it's a must have.  These will be $99.99 at booth # 4995 on Saturday at noon.

It all of a sudden got real cute in here.  Balance is the key to life my friends, so I've gotta balance out the blood and guts with some sugar and spice.  Brandi Milne's Sugar Lamb, Go! fits the bill.  For $90 you can get this at 3DRetro's booth #5051.

Also from 3DRetro comes this little ice cream dude from Gary Baseman.  He's only $55, which I think is a deal.

Retro Outlaw has given the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter a new mission:  jump over Snake Canyon on your motorcycle, while on fire, while watching Breaking Bad on Netflix.  Piece of cake, dummies.  Visit booth #929, give 'em $120, and live forever in glory!

Classic He-Man figures with Charles Manson heads and custom paint jobs from Skinner? Yeah, I'll take one of those.  DKE will be selling 50 of these, each one unique, for $150.  Get one Friday at 11am.

Speaking of Skinner, look at these guys.  He designed the one on the left while Paul Kaiju designed the one on the right and sculpted them booth.  Get the set for $55 from Lulubell Toy Bodega booth #5045 on Friday.

Last, but certainly not least, is this 8 inch Dunny from Jon-Paul Kaiser x Kidrobot.  Again, who knows what it looks like, but who cares!  It's not gonna suck.  Get one Friday at noon from booth #4945.

Well there you have it.  I'm sure I forgot some stuff.  As always, presents are always appreciated and tax deductible.***

***Probably not though

More SDCC Releases from 3DRetro

I think I'm gonna have a nervous breakdown if Comic Con isn't over soon.  I literally can't keep up with all the cool stuff coming out.  I also am not sleeping much while trying to plan my future in crime to be able to afford all of this on the secondary market.

Frank Kozik and 3DRetro are sharing a booth, so it's convenient that they should have an exclusive together.  Only 50 of his Clockwork Carrot figure got the glow in the dark treatment and $140 in American currency will get you one.  You bring pesos, you get laughed at.

You can begin your own Octopup breeding business with this four pack from Nathan Hamill.  Ok, you can't really breed them because they're plastic, but that warped little mind of yours will probably try anyway.  A mere $40 will get you all of them in this exclusive set.

This guy will come in handy when you're crying yourself to sleep on the plane because you realize all your stuff got repossessed while you were away.  Scott Tolleson and Luke Chueh combined forces to make you your new favorite snuggle buddy.  Go on, tell him all your feelings.  After you cough up the $40 though, cause nobody is gonna buy it after you cry all over him.

Find these and many more at booth #5051.

Sugar, Lamb, Go! from Brandi Milne x 3D Retro for SDCC

OH MY GAWD this is precious!  I don't mean that in a sarcastic way either, I mean it in a rip your face off and feed it to a rabid raccoon cause this is so cute you could die sort of way.  I wanna carry this around in my beard with me everywhere I go.  We could listen to death metal together, and watch reenactments of the dark ages on the History Channel, and get into bar fights.

Brandi Milne is the artist behind this amazing creation.  What I like about her is that her painting have so much exaggerated movement in them, like everything in the scene could completely succumb to a strong breeze whipping through the canvas.  I already have her other toy Bunny, Ride, Go!  and this  would be a fine companion piece indeed.  3D Retro is releasing 200 of these at San Diego Comic Con and hopefully only 199 people want one so I can by the leftover peppermint lamb lady.  I will crush someone's skull if they buy the last one.  Unless they were planning to mail it to me, in which case I will smack them on the hiney and yell "good play."

Strife and Sire "Super Soldier" Edition from Nathan Hamill x 3D Retro for SDCC

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  3D Retro knows how to advertise a toy.  You don't see them with piles of leftover stuff that nobody buys.  You don't see them hawking their wares at discount chains or flea market booths.  You know why?  Because they're not just selling you a toy, they're selling you a lifestyle.  It's the difference between buying a Volvo and a Harley.  Here's the scenario:  You pull up to a red light next to a convertible full of young coeds that didn't have strong father figures in their lives.    They're not gonna look at your expertly made example of Swedish engineering and say "Check that guy out, he's so responsible and safe."  But if you're straddling a chunk American steel and V-Twin fury, they're gonna look at you and say "Check that guy out, he'll probably buy us beer."  3D Retro wants you to be the guy making the run to the liquor store and partying with the ladies.

Nathan Hamill's Strife and Sire is getting a pretty sweet makeover for San Diego Comic Con.  This homage to Captain America and Red Skull is limited to 50 pieces and is only $50.  And Nathan will be there to sign em for you on Saturday at 2pm in booth #5051.  The model however, will most likely be doing whatever it is hot girls do.  Like, their nails or something.

Octopup from Nathan Hamill x 3D Retro Debuts Today!!!!

How many people have toy releases on their birthday?  Well, Nathan Hamill does.  Today is not only the day that he is finally old enough for his driver's license, it's also the debut of his new Octopup sofubi toy.  This little dude is exactly as advertised:  he has the head of a dog with the kung-fu grip of tentacles.  Darwin never saw this coming.  3D Retro is gonna release a new color every month and at only $10 each you can easily afford to get em all.  Trust me, I looked at your bank account.  Get the red edition today starting at 1pm Pacific time from http://www.3dretro.com/.

Bitta Critta from Scott Tolleson x 3D Retro for SDCC

My wife used to go to Las Vegas every year for a manager's conference for her job and the pictures that she would send me were amazing.  The best however, was of a man dressed up as Winnie the Pooh, passed out on the sidewalk with a bottle of booze in his hand/paw.  But wait, thats not the end of it.  There was also a little girl standing next to him in tears because she thought Pooh was dead.  OH MY GOD it was the funniest thing I've ever seen!  I was a bit horrified that anyone would let their small child near a filthy costumed character that needed to be in detox, but once I got past that the hilarity resumed.  It could have only been more funny if he ended up biting her with his Pooh Bear mouth.

On a side note, it turns out this guy is kinda well known, as this picture will prove:

Back to the task at hand.  Bitta Critta is a costumed character that also likes to get his drink on.  Or as I like to say, his draaaaaaaaaaaaank.  That makes it sound like more of a good time.  Go on, try it, I'll wait.

Scott Tolleson thunk him up, 3D Retro manufactured him in their vinyl toy uterus (or China), and VOILA! another San Diego Comic Con release.  $50 will get you one at booth #5051.

Evel Fett Figure from Retro Outlaw x 3D Retro for SDCC

Mother of God how cool is this?  How come no one has ever mashed up Star Wars and Evel Knievel before in toy form before?  Looking at this picture it just seems like the obvious thing to do.  The only thing that would make this better is if he had that stunt cycle for the '70's that you had to rev up an watch as it crashed into the wall.

See how much fun he's having.  Or she's having.  It was an ambiguous time.

Retro Outlaw and 3D Retro (that's a lot of retro) are making this king of bounty hunting dare devils available at this year's San Diego Comic Con.  You can pick one up for $120 at booth #929.  Then you can go home because nothing will be cooler than this.  Or you could stay, since I'm sure it cost you a lot of money to get there and whatnot.  But buy this guy first so you have something to hug the rest of the time.

Creamy GID SDCC Exclusive from Gary Baseman x 3D Retro

See, now this is effective toy marketing.  I'm lactose intolerant and I suddenly find myself wanting some ice cream.  I know the price I'll pay almost instantaneously for it, but it sounds good right about now.

Gary Baseman and 3D Retro are the geniuses behind this photo.  To be honest, I'd love this little ice cream dude even if he was sitting by himself on some boring background.  His name is Creamy and this glow in the dark version is headed to San Diego Comic Con.  They made 200 of these guys and it will run you $55 to get one for yourself.  Mr. Baseman will be making an appearance at the 3D Retro booth some time during the convention to sign 'em for you and make chit chat.  No word yet whether he will be bringing the model with him or not.

Mouseketeer Army from Bob Dob x 3D Retro for SDCC

This is Wil. Wil is not messing around. They don't sell this Micky Mouse ears with pieces missing from them, and you add in his baseball bat and combat boots and you've got one serious bro. Wil and the rest of the Mouseketeer Army have taken it upon themselves to defend Disneyland from some group called the Yippies, who aren't fans of the happiest place on Earth. You can get this first figure in the series from 3D Retro's booth at San Diego Comic Con for $70. Only 250 were made.
