"Red Rub" Vertebrata from Paul Kaiju x Blobpus x Toy Art Gallery Lottery Details

I love when people commit crimes using unconventional weapons.  One of my favorite stories of such an occurrence was when a man walked into a gas station near where I used to live, and robbed the place with a broom.  He cleaned out the cash register by brandishing an item used to clean the floor.  I never found out whether he got to the place and just winged his approach, or if he brought the thing with him as part of a well thought out plan.  The former I can understand, because he could have just had poor impulse control, but the latter is way more bizarre.  The guy looked around his house, was struck by a moment of divine inspiration, and drove with his weapon to make some quick cash from the Texaco.

You may, in a few brief moments, notice that the above story has nothing to do with the toy you see there.   I had already typed this story out for a different post, but then that toy sold out and I thought it would be a waste to just delete what I had already written, so here it is.  One less story being sent to the landfill.

The newest edition of Vertebrate from Paul Kaiju x Blobpus x Toy Art Gallery will be available via lottery submission starting today at noon pacific time.  You have until Monday at noon to enter for a chance o buy one of these freaky ladies.  Here's more info on the lottery:

Kamakiri (Mantis) Ningen from Blobpus x Dream Rocket

I get that doing lotteries for popular toys is a decently fair way of selling a limited product while being able to weed out known flippers, but like any gamble it sucks when you don't win.  Which is why I limit my gambling to crane machines and skee-ball.  None of that casino nonsense for me, I'll stick to my carney games where the stakes are low but the prizes are much better than mere cash.  You can always make more money, but you can't always get another giant stuffed banana dressed as a Rastafarian.  Every time you see that beauty sitting in the corner you'll be filled with a renewed sense of pride, while everyone else who sees it will wonder why you brought that thing home instead of leaving it at a rest stop where it "obviously belongs."  Playa haters.

Blobpus is forgoing his usual lottery sales for this release and instead ensuring that everyone who wants one of these crazy Mantis figures from Dream Rocket can get one.  You have until July 6th to order one, at which point he will paint them all up and ship them out in December.  Get complete details by visiting http://blobpus.blogspot.jp/.

Toy Art Gallery's 5th Anniversary Show Featuring Vertebrata

Toy Art Gallery is celebrating their 5th Anniversary this Saturday by inviting a lot of really weird looking chicks to come and hang out with their friends and customers.  No, I don't mean girls from some backwoods strip club (I pass by three on the way to work and it doesn't get any more sketchy than hillbilly strip clubs) I'm talking about Vertebrata.  The crazy brain child of Paul Kaiju and Blobpus has been customized by some of the most well known toy artists out there and they will be on display beginning with the opening reception on Saturday.  If you live in the Los Angeles area you should go and check it out, cause it will be more fun than laughing at people with botched plastic surgery.

KaijuMonster at NYCC

Obviously, KaijuMonster wants all of my money.  If anyone is a fan of crazy monster toys be prepared to file for bankruptcy protection after New York Comic Con.  Just look at this lineup.  You have everyone from Max Toy Co., to Unbox Industries, to Guumon.  These are some heavy hitters and I can't wait to see the actual toys they'll have available.

Six Eyed Ghouls and Doku Head DX from Blobpus x Mutant Vinyl Hardcore

Normally these guys are almost impossible to get.  You'd have to enter your name in a lottery and hope you win the chance to purchase one.  But today is your lucky day because you can be the proud owner of one of these Mutant Vinyl Hardcore figures custom painted by Blobpus without the fuss of a random drawing.  Imagine how impressed your friends will be that you were able to get one.  Unless your friends are like mine and can't wrap their heads around why I would spend all of my money on toys in the first place, in which case you will just have to impress yourself.  Blobpus has opened the ordering window for these two guys until June 14th.  That is unless he gets way too many orders and has to pull the plug early.  But so far they are still available at his website http://blobpus.jp/store/index.html.
