Evil Ape Fink "Stunt Fink" Edition from MCA x UVD Toys

If you think that I have not been to Hell's Canyon, where Evel Knievel unsuccessfully launched himself in a rocket car from Idaho to Oregon, then you are about to feel mighty silly.  Because the fact of the matter is that not only have I gazed nervously over the rocky ledge of the deepest canyon in America, but I have also stood inside of it at the bottom.  I got to the bottom in a much slower, yet ultimately safer way than Evel Knievel did, because its hard to enjoy nature's majesty when your bones are in places no one intended.  And I'm always careful since the time I tried to jump over a little muddy creek in the woods and I fell gloriously, nearly breaking my arm in the process.  My wife still brings that up years later, so falling into Hell's Canyon was never an option.

For reasons that are beyond my comprehension, the American flag jumpsuit never caught on as standard office attire.  I think work satisfaction and productivity would skyrocket if you were allowed to feel that good about what you were wearing.  UVD Toys and MCA have decked out the Evil Ape Fink in said attire and frankly, the little guy has never looked better. This four inch titan of vinyl will be available to add to your collection when he's released this Friday, April 9th at noon eastern time.  He'll only be $60, which is way less than the copays my insurance would have charged if I had actually broken my arm.

Tenacious Toys Exclusive Evil Ape Fink from MCA x UVD Toys

No need to wrap this Evil Ape Fink in an emergency blanket, because though he looks a little hypothermic he is in fact living his best life.  Though not at smart as Dr. Manhattan and maybe slightly less adorable than a Smurf, he's loading up on potassium and looking for a good time. And I heard they're making an Avatar sequel, so I'm sure he could get some work as an extra.  Fun fact:  I may be the only person alive to have never seen Avatar  nor do I have any desire too.  It's been too long and I've already moved on, kinda like when a band releases an album before I decided to pick up their previous one.  I can't just go and get the old one now, it make me feel weird.

MCA's signature character returns in his third iteration for UVD Toys, this time as a Tenacious Toys exclusive.  Limited to 100 pieces, this four inch vinyl figure will be available starting Thursday, September 10th at noon est.  You can welcome him into your life for $60 only at www.tenacioustoys.com.

Rotofugi Exclusive Evil Ape Fink from MCA x UVD Toys

I always find it funny when I go into a major chain store that sells toys and something will be marked "limited edition" and their idea of limited is that 15,000 of them exist.  Fifteen thousand!  Nope, if you want limited, 50 is way more like it.  That means you and 49 other people around the world are in a special club and are the only ones able to enjoy the feeling that owning a special figure offers.  Of course I myself never buy anything strictly by how rare it is, but it is a nice bonus.  It's like being the caretaker of a sacred object that you were entrusted with by an ancient god and then you absorb its powers and become the only one that can stop an evil doer from realizing his dream of global domination.  Yup, it's just like that.

I didn't just pull the number 50 out of thin air in the paragraph above, as it is the actual amount of exclusive Evil Ape Finks that Rotofugi will have on sale this Monday.  This is the second colorway of the figure from MCA and UVD Toys and the only place to get them when they become available August 17th at 10am central time will be www.rotofugi.com.

Evil Ape Fink OG Preorder from MCA x UVD Toys

I was first exposed to the work of MCA during the closing of Tower Records.  Amid the bins full of picked through magazines and cds was a box of small figures know as Qees.  I'd always been a figure collector, but this was my first exposure to the world of designer toys and I was instantly hooked. I ended up buying a handful of them, including his tribute to David Bowie's Alladin Sane.

That was longer ago than I'd probably care to think, but it's kinda cool that MCA's designs have literally been in my collection since the moment it started.  Now UVD Toys is taking me on a walk down memory lane with his latest figure, the Evil Ape Fink.  This 4 inch dude looks completely whacked out of his gourd, which is also part of his charm.  I used to work with someone kinda like that, who was pretty useless when it came to doing actual work, but whose life was so chaotic you couldn't wait to hear what nonsense they were involved in the night before.  Jerry Springer could have built a season's worth of shows around their bad decisions

Preorder your OG version of this figure today for only $60 by visiting www.uvdtoys.com.

Outsmart Originals at NYCC

Did you ever notice that it's cool to put designs on shirts but not on pants?  Like, if you have pants with a design on it you are pretty much a deviant who listens to Insane Clown Posse and has a low credit score.  Think about it, when was the last time you saw anyone who didn't look like a drunken mugshot wearing pants with a design up the leg?  We have made it unacceptable in our society to express your artistic desires on your dungarees and I'm ok with that.  If Project Runway has taught me anything it's that you gotta edit.  Less is more.  Your jeans are the pallet cleanser between your t-shirt and your sneakers, a brief reprieve of visual assault from those that are checking out your hot bod.

Outsmart Originals doesn't make artists series pants thankfully, or they would be in trouble.  They stick to tees and have a load of them coming to New York Comic Con.  MCA has collaborated with some of his artist bros to transform his Evil Ape character.  Lamour Supreme, Sergio Mancini, Scott Tolleson, Oliver Hibert, and Evoker are all putting their spin on the iconic little dude.  And Outsmart will also have a shirt from Frank Kozik that features a Day of The Dead kitty!!!!!!I haven't even seen it yet but I'll probably buy it anyway, cause that's how I roll son.

Can't make it to New York next month?  You can preorder them all right now at http://outsmartoriginals.storenvy.com/.
