Love Slugs from Taylored Curiosities

My wife is not a fan of slugs, but in her defense she's never seen them presented in such adorable fashion.  So I told her I had a picture on my phone of Love Slugs and she immediately started with her "get that away from me Chris or I will castrate you in your sleep" routine.  She still hasn't forgiven me for showing her a leech I found once, because she classifies those as slugs with tick like capabilities.  I was merely trying to share my discovery with her and it has instead turned into something to be used against me for what has amounted to years.  I now have to preface any discoveries I make, no matter whether in nature or even in the grocery store, with a declaration that it involves nothing that could be construed as a slug or slug like in any fashion.  I don't see it as a hindrance as much as a test to my creative ability to surprise her with gross things.

Taylored Curiosities is changing the bad PR that slugs all over the world have with her new figures.  Just in time for Valentine's Day, these resin cuties fit together in a loving embrace that will make you go "awwwwww".   Limited to only 10 sets, help usher in the slug as the official bug of love by visiting http://tayloredcuriosities.com.

Self Conscious: The Confidence Boosting Plush Kickstarter from Taylored Curiosities

Is there a more unique designer toy creator out there than Taylored Curiosities?  Not only does she release some of the most original plush and resin designs you will see, but she genuinely cares about all of our well being.  That's a big change for me, because most of the people I meet in the course of my work day seem hell bent on cremating any good feelings I have left.  When you work with the public it will erode you worse than a beach during hurricane season. Especially when it involves money, because then people are much quicker to go from zero to crazy. But Taylored Curiosities is here to repair the daily damage that can occur to your emotional barricade through my favorite medium: collectibles.  More people should follow her example and should bring some of that to New Jersey.  Maybe once they decriminalize marijuana use it will calm a lot of these folks right down.

There is a Kickstarter campaign running right now to help bring this plush to life.  Check it out at this link and through your donation you can be part of the process of spreading something positive in the world.  God knows we can all use it.

Samhain Sets from Taylored Curiosities

Fall is my favorite time of year for a multitude of reasons.  The sun stops trying to roast me like a chicken, all the tourists go back home (which is really a bonus because none of them understand that left turns in New Jersey usually involve a jug handle), and the woods are free to walk in as the ticks have died off and the venomous snakes have begun their hibernation until spring.  The tourist thing is especially awesome though, as leaving the house stops resembling an episode of Jersey Shore.  That show is horrible in its accuracy.

Autumn also ushers in Halloween season, which I'm told some people have to actually decorate their house for.  My house stays spooky year round.  Of course our celebration of Halloween is predated by the harvest festival of Samhain and to commemorate the occasion, Taylored Curiosities has created a special resin figure set.  Each one comes with everything you need to have a successful new begining after the spirits of your ancestors come to visit you on the 31st.  Should I buy like a cheese platter or wash extra towels?  I never know what to do when I have company, let alone dead relatives I've yet to meet.

Only 20 sets are available for preorder and they can be had by visiting https://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com

Acorn Worry Beans from Taylored Curiosities

I've got stress.  I know we all do, but there hasn't been a week that's gone by in the past month that I haven't had a cat at the vet.  We got upset stomachs, bladder issues, and allergies that are plaguing my kitties and my credit card statements.  How the hell do people with kids do it?  My brother in law's three kids had the stomach flu and each spent the day clutching a trash can on the couch while watching tv.  I mean, when you compare it to spraying bloody urine all over the basement door the kid thing doesn't seem that bad, so I've changed my mind and determined that people with children have it easier.  Unless your kid is peeing blood all over the house, then you really do have your hands full until the state steps in and incarcerates the little weirdo.

I am unable to see the relief to my stress as it peaks it's beautiful face over the horizon, but that doesn't mean it's not on its way.  If you have worried yourself to the point of perpetual nausea, Taylored Curiosities has the perfect solution with this Acorn Worry Bean.  Made with polymer clay and real acorns, this little dude is ready to take all of your troubles on himself, like Atlas with a big ball of stress upon his shoulders.

Handmade and available now, you can own one now by visiting http://tayloredcuriosities.com.

ToyCon UK Exclusives from Taylored Curiosities

My cats have the oddest tastes when it comes to food.   God forbid you try to sneak anything with chicken past their noses, as you might as well have called them an offensive slur.  Our smallest kitten discovered the other day, through no fault of our own, that she has a hankering for baked beans.  We heard the tell tale noise of her licking the sauce off of them and by the time we could get to her she struck like a cobra and made off with a bean.  Thankfully it didn't have the same effect on her that it seems to have on humans.

Taylored Curiosities will be holding down the fort at Toy Con Uk this weekend by showcasing some customs of her famous bean sets.  She's got some big names to ply their trade on her resin beans and the results cannot only be seen, but also purchased at the show.  Take a gander at a few of my favorites:

"Tales from The Netherknowle" Kickstarter from Taylored Curiosities

Who doesn't love a good adventure?  Most of mine usually end with the line "and that's how we ended up spending our weekend in the emergency room", but that's like a whole separate bonus adventure itself.  Some of the more interesting ones I will tell you about as soon as there is no question whether or not the statute of limitations has passed.  I've seen enough episodes of Scared Straight to know that prison would be the death of me.  Not from a stray shank to the ribs, or from some beast of a man thinking I look like his ex wife, I'm talking about the food.  Have you see what they get fed, cause lunch is pretty much capital punishment.  Your demise may not be as quick as with the electric chair, but you'll be wishing for it the moment your body tries to extract and nutrients from that old bologna sandwich.  That's the kind of adventure I do not need in my life.

I would, however, be willing to go anywhere with these little dudes.  They're as trustworthy as those beavers from Narnia and I'm sure something magical would happen on your trip.  Maybe you would meet a talking raccoon who wants to chat about the newest season of True Detective, or maybe you would stumble upon a witch's house made of beef wellington.  The possibilities are only limited by your imaginations, which could spell trouble for some of you.  I kid, you know I love you unconditionally.  Or is that conditionally?  Which one is it where you have to do stuff for me or I cut you off?

Taylored Curiosities wants to send you on an adventure with her newest creations, but in order to start your journey you have to back her Kickstarter campaign.  Check it out here and pack your bags to do some serious exploring.  And watch out for cops cause I will not bail you out.

Lacking A Green Thumb? Then You Need Taylored Curiosities' Curious Lithops

When Sharon and I bought our house I distinctly remember the garden in front looking impressive.  This was a few years ago and my memory is not always the best, but it seems that the simple act of us moving in has caused the thing to deteriorate.  My neighbor's is really impressive, and being that they're right next to one another, makes ours look even worse.  The other day I tried to go out and pull some weeds up, but they started flowering which made me doubt whether I should pull them or whether they we even weeds at all.  They have obviously been paying attention to humans and realized that as long as you're pretty you can get away with anything.  So after being punked by a bunch of rogue plants I decided the only course of action was to go eat lunch and just deal with the nasty looks we get from the people we live near.

I'm sure I would fare much better with these Curious Lithops from Taylored Curiosities.  For one, they're always gonna look like this, so the maintenance after putting them in the flower bed would be zero.  And two, they'll look good year round as they have transcended the idea of death by being made of clay/resin/other stuff that I have no idea about.  You can pick the one's you want or you can take a gamble and buy them blind boxed.  Spruce up your living space at http://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.

Christmas Worry Beans from Taylored Curiosities

With 23 days left until Christmas I'm sure many of you are stressed beyond belief.  You're prematurely turning your hair gray, if you haven't pulled it all out by now, and your stomach seems unable to digest anything that you put in it.  Getting those perfect gifts for the ones you love can turn us all into nervous wrecks, so you need a little something to take the edge off.  No, I'm not talking about pills or anything else that shady dude down the street is always trying to sell you (start taking credit cards bro, no one carries cash anymore).  Transfer your troubles to these Worry Beans from Taylored Curiosities.  These little resin dudes will take the edge off without you having to needlessly wake up in a ditch in someone else's clothes with the riff from In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida playing in an endless loop in your mind.

Plus, look how festive they are, all dressed up for Christmas and whatnot.  Get your set now at http://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.

Taylored Curiosities Presents the Worry Beans

My digestive system is as battle ravaged as the Middle East.  A big part of it is genetics, but there's got to be a mental factor too cause I worry about everything all the time.  I worry about life, death, money, my wife, my cats, my toys, my job, my car, tv, basically anything you can think of.  I worry whether we'll get tickets to Comic Con next year, whether we'll ever be able to do a lot of traveling, whether all of our kittens are living productive and happy lives.  I'm worrying thinking about all the worrying I do. I think I'm gonna be sick.

Trying not to wreck my nerves is a full time job in itself, one in which the pay sucks and I wish I could quite and take up oil painting or something.  Taylored Curiosities wants us all to let go a little and let the Worry Beans guide us onto the ever elusive path of serenity.   A path that allows you to keep more of your hair and not be concerned where the restroom is at all times.  Right now in her shop you can get a set of these little dudes in varying colors that are ready to bring peace to that over active mind of yours.  Stop worrying about that growth on your arm and visit http://www.tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.

Moon Seedlings from Taylored Curiosities x Sergey Safonov

Look how peaceful these Seedlings are.  One is chilling in a boat, taking in all that nature has to offer, while the other little guy is all like "no, you go ahead, I'm perfectly good right here on the shore, where the risk of drowning is the lowest."  He's a bit of a worrier underneath his calm demeanor.

Taylored Curiosities teamed up with Sergey Safonov to create this limited set of porcelain Moon Seedlings.  Pretty fancy huh?  Add some much needed serenity to you life by visiting http://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.

Butterpillars from Taylored Curiosities

Who didn't collect bugs in jars as a kid?  It was free entertainment and pretty harmless unless you were out there catching Black Widows.  I was a bit too rational as a child though, so I only kept em for a few minutes and let them go again.  Sure I poked holes in the lid so they could breathe, but no one could explain to me what they were supposed to eat in there.  Do they have some sort of insect food delivery that goes into action when their brethren is imprisoned?  We didn't have the internet then, so if your parents didn't know things you were out of luck.  And the Encyclopedia Britannica would only get you so far, so I practiced catch and release.  It would be interesting to me if someone could pinpoint the moment that compassion left me and I became a cruel old hermit.  Get off my lawn!!!!!!!

Taylored Curiosities has taken us back to the innocence of childhood with these Butterpillars.  You can keep them in the jar as long as you want and never have to worry about their discomfort.  Poke a few holes just in case though.  They're on sale right now at http://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.

First Batch of NYCC Exclusives from Tenacious Toys

The great blue takeover is happening at New York Comic Con this year courtesy of Tenacious Toys.  They have a giant collective booth with a ton of other folks that will form like some miniature city inside of the convention.  Word is they'll have their own post office, fire department, and grocery store, but I haven't been able to confirm this.  Seriously, it's gonna be huge.  These are some of the exclusives that Benny will have available just from his side of things.  Get ready to go into debt.

MegaSeth is one of the best resin dudes I've ever seen and I'm glad I'll finally be able to see one in person.  This king of all that is metal from Lisa Rae Hansen is limited to only 5 pieces in this edition and each is hand made and only $60.  Me thinks I may need one.

Continuing with the blue theme are these Monster Embryos from Taylored Curiosities.  Pretty cute right?  I dunno how many were made or what they'll cost, but I'm betting they'll be cheaper than any cab ride in the city and a lot less dangerous.

Is it a toy?  Is it art?  Will it unleash hellish beings who will wish to torture you if you try and open it?  Who cares (well the last part is kinda frightening to be honest) cause it looks cool.  Carson Catlin is a man with more patience than I've ever been able to muster.  You have to be zen-like to carve up toys the way he does with such precision.  Luckily these weren't all individually cut, or he may just have drive himself nuts.  Ten of these blue cubes will be available at $50 each.

Wait a second...this appears to be yellow.  How did this happen?  Just when you think you have a grasp on what's going on in the world they go and change things up on ya.  VISEone is the man behind this Zombie Goo figure and he will be at the convention to sign one of these 100 exclusives especially for you.  And they're only $40 each.

Ok, all is now right with the world as we have returned to a more familiar shade of toy.   But talk about mixing it up.  We've seen resin, vinyl, and now plush!  Furry Feline Creatives made 10 of these hand made 15 inch plushies and they will be available for $40.

I'm sure there's gonna be more, but this is what I know about so far.  Go and say hi at booth #208.

Yellow Monster Embryos from Taylored Curiosities

Is this guy lemon flavored?  He looks like he could be.  Lemon is one of the most superior flavors in the world.  Lemon is better than just about any other flavor you can name.  Beef is good too though, but I don't want to eat anything that looks like beef flavored candy cause that's kinda pushing it.  Beef mints?  Yuck.  That does remind me of this one time I went to Chik-fil-A and they were selling these Pez dispensers and I was kinda disappointed that the candy didn't taste like chicken.   Now that I think about it that was kind of a gross thing to be disappointed about, but I was caught up in the moment.

Taylored Curiosities has just released these yellow Monster Embryos.  Don't lick em though, cause resin tastes like crap and may kill you.  It also may not, I'm no scientist.  To be safe you should probably just admire it from your shelf.

New Stuff from Taylored Curiosities

What some of you may or may not know is that I also like to collect weird stuff.  See, my whole life isn't just about toys.  In particular I like old medical stuff, but one thing I can never bring myself to own are the specimens in liquid-filled jars.  I moved a lot as a kid and as a result things inevitably get broken.  I would have this fear that if we ever moved the jar would either break or the lid would come off and I would have to throw away everything that got wet.  Pretty gross right?  Or if I had it on my shelf that would be the one thing the cats became interested in and would knock it over, forcing me to declare my house forever unclean and burn it to the ground.

These guys are perfectly fine though, cause they're nice and dry.  Taylored Curiosities bottled up some Morrow specimens so you can start your own cabinet of wonders.  Amaze your diner guests!

And I bet you were wondering how she could make Morrows even cuter.  Wonder no more dear reader, as she has packaged three in a pea pod!  Get yourself a little adorableness in your life today by going to http://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.

Perfect Plum Monster Embryo from Taylored Curiosities

When dealing with an embryo of unknown origins, especially that of a monster, you really never know what you're going to end up with.  Sure he's cute now, but will he out grow the science lab in your basement and become one of those hateful monsters from Pacific Rim, or will he stay cute and adorable like a Pokemon?

Take the gamble with this Perfect Plum Monster Embryo from Taylored Curiosities.  She only made 20 of them and you can get one by going to http://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.
