Mimomicros Want To Store Your Stuff

Mimoco makes Mimobots, those cute little USB drives that have turned into amazing art platform and collectable.  Now they introduce Mimomicro, a new USB flash drive/microSD memory card reader.  What really sets these apart from their predecessors (in the opinion of a collector) is the fact that rather than conforming to one specific shape, each one of these guys is sculpted based on the character.  I'm eyeing up that Darth Vader one to add to my growing collection based around the Sith Lord.  But Batman is pretty cool too.  And what better way to hide all those files you don't want the government finding in case you get incarcerated.  But they don't come out until March, so try to resist your criminal urges until then.

This is how they work.  I don't know where the actual wizardry comes into play, but that's probably a company secret.   There has to be wizardry, right?

Mini Qee from MCA x Toy2r

Check out this teaser image of an upcoming Mini Qee from MCA and Toy2R.  According to the info they sent me, they head and tail will be sculpted so the final product might not be too far from what you see, just in Qee form.  MCA made some killer stuff way back when I first started collecting.  In fact, his toys where some of the first I was ever able to get, thanks in part to Tower Records closing.  I cleaned them out during liquidation and wish I had been able to get more.  I'm glad to see he's back with another figure and one that looks to be pretty wild at that.

February Releases From NECA

NECA makes some pretty cool toys at a ridiculously fast pace.  Every time I go to the store they have new stuff out that I haven't seen before and there's always a tons of different things.  Sometimes I think I've forgotten how to use the internet to see what's new, or that I have some massive head injury that I don't remember that causes me to lose track of toys that are coming out.  If the latter is the case, I must be having a symptom free day because I found out about these new releases before seeing them in Toys R Us.   First up is the Deadite Ash from Evil Dead 2.  Shockingly enough they are remaking the first one, which is a pretty typical Hollywood thing to do.  Here is my recreation of how that meeting went down.

Executive #1:  What older movies do people love that we haven't remade and completely ruined yet?

Executive #2:  Well, we screwed up Clash of the Titans already, how about Evil Dead?

Executive #1: Brilliant!

What's most shocking to me is that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are both on board with this remake.  And the role of Ash will actually be played by a girl!  I don't know why this is happening, it kinda has the whole "tinkering with Star Wars" vibe that has irritated me for years.  Stephen King doesn't rewrite his books, so people should stop changing their films.

You will also be able to pick up figures from Rocky next month.  Both Rocky and Apollo will come in regular and "just got my teeth knocked down my throat" versions.  My only Rocky related story is that I live fairly close to Philadelphia and am  huge Flyers fan.  After every game at the exit to the parking lot there is a man that plays the Rocky theme on his trumpet over and over again.  It doesn't matter whether we won or lost or whether its below freezing and snowing, he is always there and always playing that song.  It's kinda weird, but it's also something that is a testament to just how unique the city is and just how important that movie is to it.  It's also a testament to the fact that he probably only knows that one song.

Welcome Our New Sponsor Creo Design!

It's our first ever sponsor and to celebrate we're gonna help you save some money on some really cool toys.  You can save 20% off the price of the Funghi figure from TADO or the Lawhill figure from  Akinori Oishi.  Both are extremely limited so the ability to get them for less than retail is something you should take advantage of.  Now there are a few steps you need to take to get your discount and I made you a nice little list so its easy to follow along:

1.) Post this saying on the Creo Design Facebook page (here) and then Tweet it to Creo @creodesign an @thetoyviking.  "I love TADO Creo Design and Toy Viking because I am a Funghi"

2.) That's pretty much it.  See how easy that was.

This offer is only good while supplies last so get going!!!

Black 13 Calaverita from The Beast Brothers

Tomorrow is Friday the 13th.  It's a day where superstitious people refuse to leave their beds and teenagers are unceremoniously slaughtered by a man wearing a hockey mask as they do all those things their parents tell them not to.  But forget all that nonsense and feast your beady little eyes on this.  This sweet skull is made by The Beast Brothers, who you may know from their Kidrobot releases.  These are made of fiberglass and hand painted by the pair.  Each one will cost $130 and they go on sale today at 13.13pm EST (or 1:13, but that's not a sinister nor is it keeping with the theme).  Only 13 of these exist and would look great anywhere in your house that's been begging for a "scare the crap outta people" statement piece.

Don't forget that in February they'll be releasing their collaborative 8 inch Dunny with Huck Gee.  I can't wait to see what the complete toy looks like.

Living Dead Dolls Variant Set

Anyone that was lucky enough to snag the very first series of Living Dead Dolls knows that they're sitting on a gold mine.  Those figures are highly sought after and a lot of collectors would kill to have them.  For those of you that missed out on these creepy little babies the first go round, Mezco is now rereleasing that initial set to celebrate their 13th anniversary.  All of the paint and the clothing is the same, but the bodies are made differently and now have ball joints.  You can only buy these as a complete set for $190.  Only 240 sets were made and they're only available by clicking here.  I for one will live quite comfortably knowing these little weirdos will not be staring at me while I sleep.  These dolls are just one cursed monkey's paw away from terrorizing your family.

Kozik x Kidrobot Choice Cuts Labbit

I never thought of eating a Labbit before.  Sure, I have a lot of them around the house, always looking at me and judging me, but they never seemed that tasty.  Even if I wanted to eat one I wouldn't even know how to begin the complex process of breaking down the critter into edible bits.  Until now.  Frank Kozik, a man I've always thought of as a problem solver, has provided everything we need to butcher our own little tasty bugger with this Choice Cuts Labbit.  Kidrobot will be releasing this yummy morsel on February 9th for $80.  Yeah, I'm gonna need this.
