Kidrobot Returns To Conquer SDCC

Last year, Kidrobot decided to skip San Diego Comic Con.  Maybe someone ate some bad takeout, or maybe they just couldn't find anywhere to park (I've heard that's a nightmare) but it doesn't really matter what the reason is, because this year they're storming the place like Ragnar and company stormed Paris.  Probably with more showers and less bleeding, but who can say for sure.  So hang onto your britches while I give you the rundown of everything I know about what's they have planned.

You see those prints up there?  Of course you do, it was one of those rhetorical questions and you actually didn't have to answer out loud, though I appreciate your enthusiasm/willingness to have your family think you're nuts.  The release of these three prints will coincide with Brandt Peters, Frank Kozik, and Scott Tolleson making appearances to hang out with you lucky convention goers.  There are less than 200 of each print, and they will be $25 each.  That is unless you're super dedicated and one of the first 50 people in line for each artist's signing, then you'll get one absolutely free.  That will leave some funds for you to get exactly two bottles of water from one of the food carts.  You know what, screw that, use it to buy toys.  You can always drink from one of the bathroom sinks.

If you're a Junko Mizuno fan and you haven't found a mule to get you that pretty little lady on the right, I would start calling friends ASAP.  Anyone and everyone will have the opportunity to own the original colorway of this 8 inch Dunny (on the left, sucka) but if you wanna taste of that Berry Chocolate flavor, you're gonna need to be at the convention or have a stand in willing to help you out.  She's a thing of beauty and from what I understand very limited.  $100 will get you one and trust me, that's a bargain when you see one for yourself in person.

What time is it?  Well, it's quarter after three, I don't know why kids are always asking that.  You know you got a phone you little brat, so peel your eyelids off of Instagram for a second to check.  Oh, they're talking about the cartoon?  That's way less weird.  Finn and Jake want to do some adventuring all up in your house with these two exclusive releases.  Sure, you might already have these in their original color schemes, but I know the completest in you is ready to pull your very soul out of your ears to add these to your collection.  I feel you, I'm getting a little twitchy myself just by thinking of all the new Dunny releases, and I just want you to know I'm never gonna not encourage your obsessions.  toy obsessions anyway, not those one's involving Betty White ya freak.  Each figure is gonna sell for $49.99.

I've already told you about these Mega Man exclusives but I'll be damned to be called anything other than thorough with this post.  They will be $49.99 each.

There's two things my wife is terrified of: slugs and ticks.  One time when we were digging for fossils in a creek (you didn't know I was so interesting did you?) I found a leech on a piece of wood.  I'd never actually seen a leech in person, so in my excitement I wanted to share it with the person I love.  After a few vague threats I chose to forget, she informed me how a leech was nothing more than a slug/tick hybrid and what on earth would make me think she wanted to see it.  It was a long drive to the Cheesecake Factory let me tell you.

If all slugs looked like the ones from Best Fiends I bet she'd be more receptive to their company.  The great thing about these too is that they will release online at Amazon and shop.bestfiends.com at the same time the release at comic con, so nobody will miss out.  If you're at the convention you will have a chance to win some prizes and meet the lead character artist for the game, Miguel Francisco.  This will happen on Saturday, July 11th from 9am-noon and this fancy screen print is one of the things you could walk away with:

Those in attendance will also be able to take advantage of pre-releases for upcoming toys, including Frank Kozik's Baby Huey and Wuzone's debut 8 inch Dunny.  Here is the signing schedule for Kidrobot's booth # 5645, that way you can be the most prepared and stuff.

Thursday, July 9th
Junko Mizuno 1pm-3pm
Scott Tolleson 4pm-6pm

Friday, July 10th
Junko Mizuno 1pm-3pm
Frank Kozik 4pm-6pm

Saturday, July 11th
Brandt Peters 1pm-3pm
Chris 51 4pm-6pm

Preorder "The 13th" Dunny Series from Brandt Peters x Kidrobot Now!

Man, I have been hurting recently.  I've been passing what feels like concrete shards through places sharp objects were never intended to be.  Two emergency room trips, one surgical procedure, and a hell of a lot of boredom while trying to get better and I finally think I've turned the corner.  The worst part (besides the pain, silly goose) was that I fell into a dark place.  I'm not talking about that spot between your couch cushions that both science and God have abandoned; I got depressed not being able to go to work and being stuck watching lawyer commercials on daytime television.  Granted, its not nearly the worst that could happen to someone, but it still sucked just waiting around to get better.  Even the internet became boring, until I saw these guys.

I'm going to go a head and call this as the best series of Dunnys I've ever seen.  Normally I'm more a fan of the annual series that features a bunch of different artists because I like a variety when it comes to the designs.  But this set from Brandt Peters and Kidrobot really goes above and beyond to not be repetitive while still retaining a clear cohesiveness.  There's not a single one I wouldn't be excited to own and I usually never get that excited just based on the artwork at not photos of the actual figures themselves.  I was gonna hold out and post about these when the product shots started making their way online, but Circus Posterus is running such a ridiculously awesome preorder for a case of these that I didn't want you to miss out.  Right now at www.circusposterus.com you can reserve yourself an entire case of 20 blind boxed figures for $225.  Not only are you getting a discount on the case but you'll also receive a 5x7" original sketch from Brandt Peters himself!  So you'll get a ton of toys, some original art to hang on the wall, and the best time of your life sitting on your floor opening blind boxes.  You might need to take a few days off from work to recover.

Violet Trickster Skelve from Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas

I would have no way of knowing if I had Tricksters living in my house.  Between the cats taking anything that isn't nailed down and me forgetting where I put everything, the poor Tricksters would never get any credit for their misdeeds.  They'd probably feel neglected and turn to substance abuse.  So any evil little elves that were planning to take up residence here just keep it moving and find a household where talents can really be appreciated.  I want you to be happy.

These guys are cute and evil looking at the same time, which basically describes how I feel about small children.   Limited to only 10 pieces, this little purple dude even comes with his own antique block to sit on, as he is very particular of where he rests his bum.  The Trickster Skelve was of course created by the amazing husband and wife duo of Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas.

Terror Boys Ooze No. 13 from Brandt Peters and Ferg

Well, if your kids are looking at this they will most likely never be able to sleep again, so say hello to the rest of your life taking them back and forth to therapy.  He's not too terrifying really, until he puts that sack over his head and his eyes become vacant holes.  That is the stuff of nightmares.

That being said, this is by far my favorite version in the Terror Boys Ooze line from Brandt Peters and Ferg.  You can't go wrong with a Freddy sweater, a burlap sack, and a few sharp objects meant for dicing up misbehaving teenagers.  I don't have any idea how much one of these will cost, but I do know that they go on sale this Monday, May 12, at noon Central time through http://store.projectsquadt.com/.

The Wandering Misfits Pre Release Happening Today from Kathie Olivas x Brandt Peters x Cardboard Spaceship

Blind boxed toys drive me absolutely insane.  I had pretty much sworn off of them as part of my twelve step program to curb my impulsiveness when buying toys.  I had been doing so well, going through all the meetings, making amends with my creditors who I had blown off in favor of secret-filled boxes of figures.  And then I see this, and not only have I fallen off the wagon, but I hit my head really hard on the curb and have lost all ability to be reasonable.

Husband and wife team Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas hooked up with Cardboard Spaceship to bring some of their most popular characters to life in this series.  What's nice about it is that to own one of their resin pieces would set you back a step financially, but you can own their plastic counterparts for a mere fraction of that and retain the ability to have cable television.  Today (January 22nd) at noon Pacific time, both Cardboard Spaceship and Circus Posterus will be holding pre release sales on full cases of these figures.  As a bonus, each site has a different exclusive toy that will come signed by the artists.   So it really comes down to which exclusive you want the most.  Or if you're bad at decision making you can get them both and increase your chances of completing the set.

Terror Boys: Gohst Bat from Brandt Peters x Ferg

Check out this bad little dude.  If you see someone that is the size of a grown man and dressed like this on Halloween you need to understand that he wants to kill you.  I've seen enough movies to know that anybody with a machete and a mask is bad news and he will take your bones to decorate his den of iniquity.  Don't become a home decor project by some psychotic Martha Stewart.  Mainly because I don't want to lose readers.  Do you know how tough it is to get people to check this site out when there are weirdo videos that ponder what noises a fox makes?  And it's a musical.  I can't compete with that.  This is a low budget affair my friend.  If I can't pull it out of my overly medicated head for free it's not happening.  So don't get murdered and lower my website hits or I'll be pissed.

Brandt Peters and Ferg have been killing it (pun intended) with their Terror Boy figures and this Gohst Bat dude continues that winning tradition.  He comes with two sets of arms, a machete, an ax, and a removable helmet.  You can get one this Halloween (yes, he actually goes on sale October 31st) at noon Pacific time by visiting http://store.projectsquadt.com./.

Terror Boys Ooze from Brandt Peters x Ferg

This is the guy that will show up when you try and park your 1970's van at an abandoned camp ground to get fresh with your girlfriend.  I'm just trying to save lives here people, because no one ever learns anything from all of the horror movies out there.  At best anyone wearing a bag over their head might just have one of those weird tumors with a tooth growing out of it and a lack of health insurance to get it dealt with.  Add in the machete and sawed off shotgun, and you know they aren't from AAA looking to help you fix a flat tire.

It's not ever day that I'm really impressed by a toy, but this one has managed to leave me in awe.  I love everything about it, but especially his melty face and droopy eye.  It's grotesque while still retaining a sense of innocence about it, like you could almost feel sorry for the guy and the obvious problems he's had with women.  I mean, he is running out of space in his freezer for them, which is a huge problem because he can't just go to Sears and buy another one and I've never heard of a killer with good credit, so even ordering one from the internet is out of the question.

You can purchase on of these dudes that Brandt Peters and Ferg made this Monday, June 3rd, at noon Central time for $105 (and that includes shipping anywhere in the world).  Only 225 were made and you can get one at http://store.projectsquadt.com/
