Dripple Series 1 Platform Toy from Sket-One and Mighty Jaxx

I enjoy a good platform toy.  I like the fact that it's one basic shape and it's up the artist to really bring it to life while making it unique.  Mighty Jaxx has teamed up with Sket One to produce their first ever platform toy, Dripple.  There are two things about this figure that I think make it successful.  The first is a huge area in which to put designs.  They're not limited by little stubby arms or legs or really harsh angles, so the art really has a chance to be unrestrained.  The second is that the arms are all interchangeable and they will be making more accessories to go along with the figures, so you can mix and match them however you want.  Not only does that give you options for display, but customizers will have more choices when making their own creations.

Now, they need your help to get this series into production.  They are raising the funds right now over at http://drippletoy.com/ and it works the same way as Kickstarter.  There are different levels of rewards for your contribution, including some hand made figures, complete sets, and even a three foot tall Dripple.  They've actually just hit their main goal a few hours ago, but they still need help in hitting those stretch goals and unlocking more cool stuff.

Munky King's Remaining SDCC Exclusives On Sale Today

Ooooooh I bet you thought you weren't going to get one of these.  You'll be happy to know that while they only made 100 of them, not all of this Luke Chueh/Jason Freeny collaboration made it to Munky King's booth at SDCC.  They weren't being sneaky about it, they just weren't able to finish them in time.  Production was going smoothly until one of them brought Downton Abbey season 3 to work and then depressed everyone, bringing work to a screeching halt.  Are Anna and Mr. Bates the only people destined to find happiness?  These go on sale today at noon Pacific time for $240.

They also have a few of these worm crawly machiney thingys from Doktor A.  You can have one for $120 and they are also limited to 100 pieces.

Get em both today at https://www.munkyking.com/.

Munky King Exclusives for SDCC

I would most definitely fight a horde of nerds for this figure.  It features two of my favorite things: blood and guts.  Luke Cheuh and Jason Freeny teamed up to help this bear learn all about his insides.  Munky King produced 100 of these for Comic Con and each was hand made.  It is stunning to say the least and in my top 10 of must haves from this year's convention.  I wouldn't tell if they wanted to sell me one right now.

Doktor A doesn't make anything that isn't insane to look at and this might be his craziest piece yet.  What is nice about this is that it is listed as the Autumn Amble Edition, which would lead one to believe that future releases for us unable to make it to San Diego will occur.

This guy is kinda neat.  Anthony Ausgang released a similar version of this years ago, but he and Dave Pressler have changed up the sculpt and made 50 of them available in this uber limited edition.  Kitty gonna go boom.

Get all three of these by visiting the folks from Munky King at their booth.

More SDCC Releases from 3DRetro

I think I'm gonna have a nervous breakdown if Comic Con isn't over soon.  I literally can't keep up with all the cool stuff coming out.  I also am not sleeping much while trying to plan my future in crime to be able to afford all of this on the secondary market.

Frank Kozik and 3DRetro are sharing a booth, so it's convenient that they should have an exclusive together.  Only 50 of his Clockwork Carrot figure got the glow in the dark treatment and $140 in American currency will get you one.  You bring pesos, you get laughed at.

You can begin your own Octopup breeding business with this four pack from Nathan Hamill.  Ok, you can't really breed them because they're plastic, but that warped little mind of yours will probably try anyway.  A mere $40 will get you all of them in this exclusive set.

This guy will come in handy when you're crying yourself to sleep on the plane because you realize all your stuff got repossessed while you were away.  Scott Tolleson and Luke Chueh combined forces to make you your new favorite snuggle buddy.  Go on, tell him all your feelings.  After you cough up the $40 though, cause nobody is gonna buy it after you cry all over him.

Find these and many more at booth #5051.

A Little Stranger Shows You How A Plush Toy Is Made

I've always been fascinated to learn how things are made.  I don't really care what it is either, I just want to see it start from raw materials and then make its way to a finish product.  I love huge machinery that was built for one simple little job.  While this guy doesn't involve any mechanical monstrosities to bring him to life, it is still fascinating to see how he went from a mere drawing to a cuddly, 3 dimensional toy.

A Little Stranger prototyped Bartholomew Punchyface based on the work of Scott Tolleson and Luke Chueh.  I wouldn't have had the faintest idea how to do this, and probably would have just glued a bunch of random stuff together, gotten frustrated, and taken a nap.  Thankfully for you, no one asks me to make plushies.  See the entire process with tons of images at http://www.alittlestranger.com/wordpress/.
