Suburban Vinyl Exclusives for New York Comic Con

Man it's getting down to the wire for New York Comic Con and I'm here scrambling to tell you about everything you're gonna want to track down the minute the doors open.  I won't be able to make it up there until Saturday, so I hope I'm not the last vulture to the corpse and all that's left are the toe nails.  That was a really disgusting analogy and hopefully you weren't eating when you read it.

SubUrban Vinyl will be holding down their usual spot at the giant Tenacious Toys compound, which is also known as booth 208.  Take a look see at a few of their exclusive items they'll have available for your toy shopping needs:

Tenacious Toys Exclusives for New York Comic Con

Just so we're clear, these are not nearly all of the exclusives Tenacious Toys will have at New York Comic Con.  They've got so many that I've gotta take it slow or I'll get overwhelmed and not be able to function.  So let's examine a few of my favorites.

I don't get all the hatred towards the Ewoks.  In fact, I didn't realize that people didn't like them until that whole Jar Jar Binks fiasco in which people were forced to remember all the reasons George Lucas pissed them off.  Let me tell you, if I just destroyed the reign of the Galactic Empire with a bunch of delinquents I would expect teddy bears to sing (literally) my praises too.  Lay off the poor Ewoks, people!  UME Toys loves the Ewoks so much that he has decided to preserve his popular Geekwok figure in carbonite forever.  And it's a special Tenacious blue carbonite, which makes it even better.  Only 10 of these exist and they will be $55 each.

Can you call a woman something worse than a hag?  I mean, I know there are words that I won't mention here that society has deemed far more scandalous, but hag just sounds so harsh.  Literally, go ahead and say it, and put some anger in your voice when you do.  That's a word you save for special occasions, like if someone kicks your puppy or something.  Rampage Toys and Skullheadbutt have definitely captured the ideas that word conjures in this figure.  Not that I haven't kissed worse looking girls, because I was after all a teenage boy once, but this chick looks like she's doomed to a life spent alone in the woods whose only visited by stupid kids that were dared to knock on her door.  We all know how The Blair Witch ends so you better leave her alone!  Limited to 5 figures at $150 each.

Has the economy ever really recovered or have we just gotten used to being poor for so long that we accept this as the new normal?  Well I for one haven't and that's why I'm so cheap.  I buy the store brand bread, and the bo bo cereal that comes in a bag, because I try to save my cash for stuff I really want.  But I also want to get value in the stuff I want, and that's why this pack of figures from the Sucklord is exactly what this world needs now.  You get 10 mini figures for only $20.  Ten figures!!!!!!  That's enough to stage your own epic pretend wrestling pay per view.  They're limited to 40 sets, so I'm expecting 40 Youtube videos of these guys wrestling each other or I'll be sorely disappointed.

If this picture is any indication, that new Star Wars movie is gonna take a really disturbing turn.  Evidently hard times have fallen upon one of our favorite droids, and he has been forced to earn his space credits the only way he knows how.  I'm probably gonna have nightmares about this.  Forces of Dorkness is the demented mind behind this figure, which would have scarred my childhood had many other things not already beaten it to the punch.  This freaky robot is limited to 20 pieces at $50 each.

Check out all this and much, much, much, more at both #208 starting Thursday.

Bigshot Toyworks Exclusive Hellfire Lil Maddie for NYCC

You wanna know what's weird?  Seeing cows on the side of a mountain.  Check this picture out:

And these weren't even the most precariously positioned cows we saw, these were just the ones I was able to get a picture of.  There were some elsewhere that were literally chilling on the side of a cliff, eating grass and going about their business like there was nothing weird happening.  I always thought of cows as kinda fat and clumsy, but apparently they are sure-footed extreme sports enthusiasts.  There would always be one in the group that had something to prove and would have like half his butt hanging over the edge like it was no big deal.  I pulled the car over and tried to reason with them but they didn't find my argument compelling enough to come down and be normal field cows like everyone else.  It just made me nervous seeing them graze so high above the road.

We saw a lot of deer out west too, which isn't that big of a deal because everyone has deer, until you realize that these deer aren't scared of anything and you could reach your hand right out of the car and slap one if you wanted to.  Not that you would, cause that would make you a sicko, but I was impressed cause New Jersey deer act like you're the police and they're carrying unregistered handguns.

Our other animal sightings included big horn sheep, qual, magpies, and a city mouse at the Philadelphia airport.  Oh, and we saw a ton of ponies.  I bet you thought I'd never relate this story back to the toy, but that makes you a non believer and I should shun you.  But I won't cause I'm totally into this abusive relationship we have.

Bigshot Toyworks is coming to New York Comic Con and they're bringing this super sick Hellfire Lil Maddie with them!!!! A mere $30 will get you one of these clear red beauties from their booth #208, which is part of the Tenacious Toys collective (which is like a Burning Man camp for toy lovers but without the rich fake hippies or sand in your bikini zone).

Kyle Kirwan's Mudcat Willo for Tenacious Toys' Super Series Sunday

Kyle Kirwan is taking resin casting where resin casting hasn't gone before.  He bought himself an RV and is gonna travel from Brooklyn to Designer Con, dropping new releases along the way like some kind of toy making Ken Kesey (though I haven't gotten word whether he's painted his magic toy bus like a crazy person or filled it with naked and stoned hippies).

His first release will be this glow in the dark blue Mudcat Willo for Super Series Sunday from Tenacious Toys.  Hey, isn't there someone else know for making blue stuff in an RV?  Maybe I'm just imagining it.  Only 6 of these 11 inch tall figures will be available starting at 8pm eastern time tonight.  Pick one up for $100 only from www.tenacioustoys.com.

"Chewquila" from Forces of Dorkness for Tenacious Toys' Super Series Sunday

I know I've already told the story of how mad I got while trying to get a new tire yesterday, but I was sooooooooo ma that it bears repeating for a second day in a row.  I won't retell the whole thing, but do you remember in Star Wars when Chewbacca was about to lose that weird game of chess and Han Solo was all like "bro, you should let the Wookie win, cause he'll rip your arm off and cave your skull in with it" (I'm paraphrasing)?  Well I was Wookie level angry yesterday.  I mean, where else can you set up an appointment to have something as simple as a tire replacement done and they tell you it might be done by tomorrow morning?  Could you imagine showing up to your barber and him telling you that he got really backed up and he may get to you by morning? Or booking a reservation at a restaurant for dinner and not being seated until breakfast.  It's ludicrous, and it's even more so when they don't understand why you feel that way.  I can hear George Castanza yelling about this in my head.

Ok, I think Forces of Dorkness has officially made it impossible for anyone to create a better custom Star Wars toy.  He took a Muttpop Tequila figure, fuzzied him all up, and made the mother of all Chewbacca figures.  Eight of these will be made available this Sunday (June 7th) at 8pm as part of Super Series Sunday from Tenacious Toys.  You will have a two week window to preorder one of them after which time they will be made and mailed off to live with their lucky new owners.  Little pink hair brush not included.

Tenacious Toys Exclusive Bun Bun from Brent Nolasco

I bet this guy is related to the bunny from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  Though he doesn't look as fluffy, or as innocent, but he does have the sharp pointy teeth and that's gotta be an isolated genetic anomaly.  We better hope so any way, cause the bunny uprising is the last thing we need right now.

Brent Nolasco's resin Bun Bun figure got himself a blue makeover to be part of Super Series Sunday tomorrow from Tenacious Toys.  Only 7 will be available when they go on sale and at just $75 each they won't last long.  And this is a lot of toy for your money too; just look at how big it is in the hands of a grown man:

Those aren't baby mitts people!  Be ready at 8pm eastern time tomorrow when this sucker goes up for sale only at www.tenacioustoys.com

Super Series Sunday's Returns to Tenacious Toys with the "Bearrito" from Diehm Studios

I love it whenever there is a bear sighting where I live because people lose their minds.  The news will come out, kids will stay home from school, and people will line the streets with their cell phones trying to get a good picture for Instagram.  Meanwhile the poor bear was just looking to dig through some trash and now is gonna end up with a tranquilizer dart in its butt.  After a short nap the now famous bear ends up in a place it doesn't recognize all because that Chinese takeout someone threw away smelled really good.  It's like the poor creature went on a date with a frat guy.

If a bear dressed as a giant burrito maybe we would think it was just clever advertising for a Mexican restaraunt and leave it be.  Then he'd have unlimited access to all the garbage bins and small children he could stomach.  It's a win-win for everyone!

This Sunday Tenacious Toys will be unleashing their newest exclusive, the Atomic Blue Corn Bearrito from Diehm Studios.  He's 2 inches of spicy fury and will be made to order, giving you exactly one week to pull the trigger and get one for your collection.  This dude goes live at 8pm eastern time and the window for ordering closes on May 24th.  Pick yours up here.

Bid on a Limited Edition Hip Hop Trooper Figure to Benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

As toy collectors, our mentality is usually focused on acquiring as many cool things as we can fit into our living spaces.  And we spend a lot of money in the pursuit of those must-have pieces.  It's easy to get caught up in the process and lose sight of just how lucky each and every one of us is to be able to direct a portion of our lives towards our passion.  But as we all know there are much bigger issues in life than waiting for the mailman to deliver our newest figure.  Some people are waiting for a cure to be discovered before its too late.

Tenacious Toys has set aside a few of their Hip Hop Trooper exclusives from last New York Comic Con as a way to help fund research into various terminal illnesses.  Now you have the chance to own one of these limited toys with all the proceeds going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  There is an eBay auction happening not until Tuesday April 28th that you can bid on at this link.  Build your collection while helping donate to research that is so desperately needed.  Special thanks should also go to all the artists involved in creating this toy:  Kid Ink Industries, Jason Chalker, Small Angry Monster, and Sidekick Labs.

Despair is Coming to Super Series Sunday from Tenacious Toys

What a tantalizing headline!  Despair, in this case, is not a bad thing at all.  Sorry if you ran out to by sympathy cards for Tenacious Toys, but their Super Series Sunday is alive and well and will have a new release this weekend.  That release just happens to be a figure named Despair from Adam Quenell.  This little 3 inch dude is made out of keshi style rubber that's been dyed Tenacious blue and is limited to just 10 pieces.  Be one of the lucky few to own one when it goes on sale this Sunday, March 8th at www.tenacioustoys.com for $30.  And it comes with a code to download Adam's comedy album for free.

Tenacious Toys Exclusive Blue "Inner Child" from Nerviswr3k x Suburban Vinyl

Why so blue panda bear?  Cause he's a Tenacious Toys exclusive, duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.  It's kind of their thing, which I'm all about because I like consistency.  I like to know that I will never get a full night's sleep because one of the cats will knock something over, scare the others into a feline stampede, and ensure that I nearly have a heart attack.  I like to wake up in the morning and know that I have a delicious box of Cap'n Crunch waiting for me.  I like to think that if I mention how delicious Cap'n Crunch is two sentences in a row that maybe they'll send me some free cereal cause that stuff ain't cheap.  I'd like free cereal to become a consistency.

It feels like just last week that I wrote a pretty baller review of Nerviswr3k's "Inner Child" figure.  Actually, it was just last week, so if you missed it you won't have to scroll too far back in the archives to bask in it's glory.  But before you bask, or afterwards if you promise to come back, you should know that this little monster is limited to only 125 pieces and will be on sale starting February 28th at noon eastern time only from http://www.tenacioustoys.com/.  They will have the red version available as well.  This toy was produced by the fine folks at Suburban Vinyl

Tenacious Toozie Scloozie Shagghoulie from We Become Monsters

This time of year I wish we had shag carpeting covering every square inch of our house.  Hardwood floors are nice to look at, but when it's freezing out I feel like I'm trekking barefoot over a glacier.  The struggle is real my friends.

I would settle for an entire suit made out of shag carpeting, baring in mind that it is coated on the inside with luxurious fleece.  That would be the height of warmth and comfort and still less stupid looking than Ugg Boots.  Look how happy this Shag Ghoulie from We Become Monsters is.  Dude is completely toasty and feeling fuzzy in all the right places.  He's part of Super a Series Sunday from Tenacious Toys and will go on sale...wait for it...this SUNDAY, January 11, at 7pm eastern time.  Limits to only 10 pieces at $100 each, you can only get one from http://www.tenacioustoys.com

Purchase A Raffle Ticket Now To Help Nerviswr3k

It's easy to get cynical this time of year.  You're stressed out because you have a ton of shopping to do and no time to do it and when you go shopping the experience can be anything but festive.  You've got traveling to plan, long lines at the post office, and your credit card companies are close to hiring Boba Fett to help them get paid.  Many of us find ourselves caught up in these things instead of what this time of year is really all about, and that's celebrating your friends and family and putting the needs of other people first.

Recently, a member of Nerviswr3k's family passed away, leaving behind a young girl to take care of.  Of course this is going to be a rough time for everyone involved, but with our help we can ease their burdens just a little and help make the Christmas season a bit brighter.  Tenacious Toys is holding a raffle from now until December 10th, in which for $10 you will get a sticker pack with donations from Renone, Abe Lincoln Jr., and Sticker Robot.  Every penny of that money is going directly to Nerviswr3k's family.  Didn't I say something about a raffle?  Each sticker pack you buy is one entry into a raffle for some killer prizes, including rare toys and custom figures.  To get a sticker pack see all the prizes that are available, visit this link.

Krampus on a Shelf from Forces of Dorkness x Tenacious Toys

If you want your kids to behave themselves in the time leading up to Christmas, why would you put some little sissy on your mantle that's gonna supposedly go off and rat em out for the bad stuff they do? Kids know that snitches get stitches and they're not gonna take some dainty little elf seriously.  What you need is some crazy looking demon guy that will stuff them into a bag and beat the tar out of them with a stick.  Now that's something that will make even the littlest psychopath think twice before giving into those bad voices in his head.

Krampus is the greatest thing to happen to Christmas since presents, and it warms my heart to see people in America start to embrace Santa's enforcer.  Now if only we could start working him into our holiday traditions.  Kids need a healthy dose of fear.  They need a freaky goat man to smack them around as they stare mindlessly into their cell phones instead of taking out the trash.

Ok, this has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, but I couldn't stop laughing at this video when I saw it.  It is Christmas themed though:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm dying, I'm dying.

Krampus on the Shelf was created by Forces of Dorkness to watch over your little nut jobs as they go about their heathen ways.  They are going up for preorder this Sunday, November 2nd, at 7pm as part of Super Series Sunday from Tenacious Toys.  You'll have two weeks to place your order for one of these dudes, who stand 8 inches tall and retail for only $50.  It's cheaper than putting those little monsters in obedience school (do they have that for kids?).  Get yours at http://www.tenacioustoys.com/

Seen at New York Comic Con: Tenacious Toys

What's this?  Is it a picture of the elusive yeti?  The Loch Ness Monster?  No, it is you humble narrator, looking quite studious in the midst of conversation about some toy or another.  This rare image was snapped by Benny Kline of Tenacious Toys and thankfully I wasn't doing anything embarrassing at the time.  Though I was caught with my man purse, which comes in handy when you're trying to get rid of money like it's covered in ebola.  You gotta put all those toys somewhere.

Each year Benny takes the time to put together a giant collective booth of artists and companies that is kinda like it's own sustainable village.  They have their own fire department, sanitation system, and currency.  Ok, not really, but if they get any bigger the post office is gonna force them to get their own zip code.  Not that I'm complaining because you can never have too much stuff to look at.

My favorite thing at the booth was Bigshot Toywork's Four Horsies of the 'Pocalypse line.  I'm a little biased though, because I did support the Kickstarter for Maddie and have one of those coming my way any day now.  After getting to hold it I'm even happier to have supported its creation, because it is an amazing looking toy.  I already have a spot in my display case reserved for its arrival.

Take a gander at some photos I took and check out www.tenacioustoys.com for anything they might have left over from the convention.  Many more photos can be found at www.facebook.com/TheToyViking.

NYCC Exclusives from Tenacious Toys

After waiting an entire year the time has finally come for New York Comic Con.  Some times, finding out about exclusives can be a difficult task.  You may get a teaser image, or you may notice a posting about em on Twitter as you're on the train in route to the convention and it turns out it's something you really want but you weren't able to budget accordingly or plan your booth visits right so you just get frustrated and you kick the seat in front of you and it turns out the guy in that seat was just paroled and the spider web tattoo on his face makes you think he may not be understanding of your situation and you end up spending the whole convention getting reconstructive dental work.

Tenacious Toys wants to see your smiling face with all of it's teeth at their giant collective booth, so they've made these handy little pictures with everything you need to know about their exclusives.  You have pricing info and the amount of them that were made right there so you can plan accordingly and not miss out on something you really want.  Take a peak below of everything they've announced so far:

NYCC Exclusive Greads from Evil Dave x Dead Hand Toys

We're officially one week away from the opening of New York Comic Con, so I'm gonna try and step up my game and show you all my favorite stuff that will be available there.   Be prepared to have your minds blow, your souls ache, and your wallet scream for mercy (in no particular order).

You see these custom Greads from Evil Dave and Dead Hand Toys?  These are what you would call a bargain, cause not only are they 100% hand made, they're also 100% affordable.  Hot dogs at the Javitts Center cost more than these and only one of them will give you a tapeworm.  Ten full size Greads were made and cost only $28, while 30 micro Greads were produced and they will run ya a mere $12 each.  Twelve dollars for a hand made art toy?  These will be available at Suburban Vinyl's booth #208, which is part of the massive Tenacious Toys collective.  You can't miss it, the thing is like the size of a city block, but with minimal chance of being run over by an aggressive cab driver.

Tenacious Toys Exclusive "Purple Haze" Daigomi from Guumon

Driving into Atlantic City you will pass by a giant landfill that has a distinct smell of monster farts.  You will then smell it again after you've lost all of your money, signed over the title of your car to a loan shark, and are forced to walk back up the expressway in an attempt to hitch hike home.  It tried to warn you, that your get rich quick scheme involving your retirement fun and a blackjack table was a stinker.  Afterwards it's just rubbing it in, a noxious "I told you so" from old baby diapers and rotting Chinese food.  Luckily I am smart enough to live far enough away from it that I have not become used to the smell, but anytime I drive by it I'm expecting the odor is actually coming from the formation of a gigantic monster beneath the surface, coming to wreak havoc on us for our wasteful ways.  Daigomi is our reckoning, and you're gonna wish you recycled your cans now, punk!

I can't say enough nice things about this figure.  Each time I see one I notice some new little detail worked into the design, with different paint schemes revealing new secrets.  Guumon has painted up a grand total of 6 of these figures in the "Purple Haze" color way, and they are exclusives to the good folks of Tenacious Toys.  There's even a chase version that involves a bit more gold near the head.  These will be available via a lottery system that will begin today.  Here is what you have to do for a chance to own one of these beauties:

To enter the Lottery, email us at tenacioustoys at gmail and include this information: Title the email with "Purple Haze Daigomi" and in the body of the email please include this info: Full name and address, plus paypal account username. Lottery closes on Friday. Winners will be chosen at random, only the winners will be contacted....one piece per household. Each of the 6 pieces will be $150+shipping. We will give you ship options & prices.

May the toy gods be forever in your favor, or something.

The Big Push to Bring Little Maddie to Life

We're have officially one week left to go to make Little Maddie from Bigshot Toyworks a reality and there is still a lot of room to help and a lot of really cool rewards for doing so.  They've added the option to get a completely clear version of the figure that you can see here:

You can also pick up different customized versions of this Cthulhu-possessed horsey from the likes of Mark Nagata, Martin Hsu, Monster Kolor, Small Angry Monster, Nemo, and Mechavirus.  These will all be one of a kind so you'll have ultimate bragging rights if you snag one.  This is the first time I've ever personally backed a Kickstarter project and I really really want to see this thing succeed.  Not even just for me though, but for the people that have worked hard to create it.  Go to this link and help out any way you can.  Even if it's only a $1 you're still helping it get closer to goal.
