Silver DeathCat from Deathcat Toys x Toy Art Gallery

Do you remember the movie Clash of the Titans?  I'm talking of course about the original, not the crappy remake one from a few years back.  It's one of my all time favorites and other than the three original Star Wars films, the only one I'd watch repeatedly without getting tired of it.  Recently I was discussing cats with someone and they asked how I ended up with five of them and the best way I could think to describe is was the way the Gods presented Perseus with the various weapons in the film to complete his task.  Everything was placed strategically so he couldn't help but find what was intended for him and I feel the same way about the little critters that wake me up at 6:30 every morning demanding to be fed.  They were intended to enter our lives at that exact moment and all we had to do was scoop them up and take them in the house.  Ok, so we managed to do that with one of them, the others didn't make it that easy, but you get my point.  Especially the one who wedged himself behind the car engine and required four hours and a tow truck to lift the front of the car to get him out.  It would have been easier to fight the Kraken.

Deathcat Toys and Toy Art Gallery are set to release another of the former's mascot figures in silver sparkly sofubi.  He stands at four and a half inches tall, looks meaner than a snake, and will be available starting today at 3pm eastern time for $45 each.  That's way less than we spend on any of the three prescription foods that we feed our little buddies, who decided its way more fun to have individual dietary needs than to come together and share the same one.

Stepping Through Walls at Toy Art Gallery **Update**

So I originally posted this last week, but the show is actually THIS SATURDAY.  I swear that I'm not drinking when I'm updating this site. However I am usually stopping one or more cats from eating something they shouldn't on my desk or trying to play Smackdown on all my stuff.

Toy Art Gallery has a pretty big show starting Saturday featuring some cool toy folks, but the reason I would be there (if I lived, oh I don't know, about 3,000 miles closer) is for these Death Cat figures from Johan Ulrich:

How great are these?  The answer is "these are amazing."  When we first got married, my wife and I lived in an apartment complex that had a few stray cats living outside.  One of these dudes was quite a beast, and he was missing his tail, half of an ear, and only had one eye.  We named him Carlos because when you looked at his face you could almost hear him say "Whas up homes."  He may or may not have even been a dude, he never let us get that personal.  We wanted to bring him in the house soooooooo bad but he wasn't having it, and it took us nearly two years to even get close enough to pet him.  Now fast forward four years and my wife is waiting on someone at her job who lives in our old neighborhood.  She starts talking about how she misses the outdoor cats and the lady whips out her cell phone to show her pictures of a cat she was able to bring indoors.  And of course its Carlos!!  He finally decided to put the streets behind him and settle down into a life of luxury.  So every time I see these toys it reminds me of him and maybe that's why I like them so much.

You lucky folks in the Los Angeles area will get first crack at these guys during the opening of the show on Saturday and Johan himself will be there along with most of the other artists participating.

Marbled Resin Liliths from Death Cat Toys

I would like to put forth a motion that all demon heads from now own be constructed of nekkid ladies.  And being that I am a cruel and evil dictator in my own little mind, the motion passes and is therefore law.  Anyone caught breaking the law will be condemned to cleaning all of the litter boxes in my house for the rest of their natural lives and longer if my amateur necromancy classes actually pay off.  I will raise your heathen butt from the dead in the name of a fresh smelling house, don't think I won't!

I've shown you these Lilith figures from Death Cat Toys before, but never like this.  You see, they enlisted the talents of DuBose Art to create these marbled resin editions that are beyond stunning.  Only a few are left for you to purchase so you need to head over to http://Deathcattoys.bigcartel.com/ and snag one before they're gone.

Lilith from Death Cat Toys

This toy is called Lilith.  It is a nekkid lady contorted to form a demon's head.  I imagine that people who use LSD and end up in psych wards see stuff like this and it drives them over the edge.  These are the creation of a tattoo artist by the name of Johan who works under the label Death Cat Toys.  The only way to buy one is to email him at xjbubloodx@aol.com.  It's all kind of clandestine, like you're an international toy buyer who only collects rare pieces from the black market.  I need to get out more.
