Argonaut Resins Leopard Tuttz for NYCC

I like kitties. I like toys. I like kitty toys. Argonaut Resins will have a few of these Leopard Mini Tuttz for sale at New York Comic Con in addition to all the other amazing stuff you already knew about. I also live in New Jersey, and if you watch reality tv you know that leopard print is considered a "Jersey Neutral" meaning you can wear it with anything. We have different fashion rules here than anywhere else in the world.

Mad x Pobber Toys for NYCC

A toy that looks like this and that was made by Mad and Pobber Toys will be released at New York Comic Con this year. That's all I know cause no one ever tells me anything.

More Craziness from Super 7

Super 7 are hijacking your wallet with their toys. Just when you think you may make it a little while before you see something you have to have BAM! they jump out from a dark alley and beat you senseless with their amazing plastic skills. Charcoal Flame Hanoo from Leecifer is $35 and may or may not set your house on fire. Milton, the little upside down ice cream cone bro is painted up like his favorite He-Man bad guy and will be $25. They will be released on September 30th at noon Pacific time. Resistance is futile!

Dark Horse Spider-Man Syroco for NYCC

Dark Horse just released this picture of their exclusive Spider-Man Syroco statue for New York Comic Con. These will be $49.99 each and will be extremely limited. They go on sale on preview day at the con, so if you want one you better try to get in on Thursday. It will come packaged in a tin box and is ready to chill and judge you from wherever you put him in your house. Just look at him, all cocky with his hand on his hip. "Are you really wearing those pajama pants out in public?" "Girl, please, you better put some jeans on before you go to the mall." Spider-Man loves What Not to Wear.

Shawnimals NYCC Exlcusives

I never write anything about plush toys. I really don't know why that is, cause it's not like I'm mad at them or anything. I ain't no plush hater so check out this new shiz from Shawnimals that attendees of New York Comic Con will have the chance to add to their collections of fuzzy.
First up we have an exclusive color way of the Zombie Ninja of the Month. Each one is signed an numbered and is limited to only 50 pieces. Undead plush will run you $40 each.

Next up is Pocket Undercover Ninja: Flying Devil. Just like the name says, he's a wee bit smaller than his zombie cousin and is a wee bit more limited, as only 20 pieces exist. He'll set you back $25.

And what would Comic Con be without taking home your very own mustache? Crap, that's what it would be. So luckily you'll be able to get one even if you can't grow your own. They're $20 a pop, which is less than Rogaine, and will come in all sorts of fun colors.

Batman Arkham City Figures Coming in December

DC Direct will be releasing another wave of figures from the upcoming Arkham City video game this December. You will be able to snag Batman without his cowl on, Harley Quinn, or Tim Drake as Robin. I think you'll have to provide your own Gotham fog though. Be creative.

NYCC Exclusive Compound Hulk from Hasbro

Hasbro has announced its first exclusive that its bringing to New York Comic Con, and it is pretty cool. The Compound Hulk is based on a comic earlier in the year where Green Hulk ad Red Hulk (shockingly) combine as one. You didn't see that coming did ya? It will be $11 at the Hasbro booth and most likely at www.hasbrotoyshop.com if there are any left overs.

myplasticheart x Shawnimals NYCC Exclusive

Pork is the perfect food. Everybody knows it and those that don't should not kid themselves. But even pork can go bad, so I don't recommend leaving it out in the sun, or not cooking it all the way. Thankfully as a public service, myplasticheart and Shawnimals have come together to show us just what happens when pork takes the wrong path. Shawnimals will be selling the orange "Crime Scene" dumpling at his booth and myplasticheart will be selling the black "Guilty as Charged" edition at theirs. Both are limited to only 50 hand painted pieces and will retail for $12 each. And don't be a jerk and just buy one or the other leaving some poor lonely soul with a murderous pork dumpling with no victim or vice versa. Get them both and play CSI with you favorite vinyl food.

Slooooow Monday

Very slow Monday as far as toy news is concerned and I'm feeling pretty lazy anyway, so maybe I'll just spend the day playing Gears of War 3.

Kidrobot 'Bots Mini Series

Kidrobot will be releasing mini figures of it's iconic logo on October 6th. They will be blind boxed and sell for $9.95 each. These really aren't doing it for me, as I would have much rather seen them do smaller versions of the mascot that various artists have produced over the years. They could have been different color ways from their bigger versions and might have added a bit more excitement than just "hey, I'm a guy that plays basketball." I can't complain to much though, because they have had a pretty amazing year of releases. And it is probably a good thing that I don't covet everything that they make, being as how the electric company won't take my doubles in exchange for their service.

Jon Paul Kaiser x Toy2r NYCC Exclusive

Breaking news: the world is officially out of plastic because Jon Paul Kaiser has managed to use every bit of it. Not that I'm complaining mind you, cause I love what he does, but this man is a machine. I think this is how his days are: "Well, nothing on tv, let's release a new toy." He is a toy blogger's dream come true because I never lack for things to write about.
Ok, now onto actual business: JPK and Toy2r are planning to release this special "Pieces of Eight" edition of Captain Sturnbrau at New York Comic Con. He's all black with silver spray and will be uber limited. You can find the Cap'n at the Toy2r/Tenacious Toys booth and the man behind the madness himself will be there to sign all of his new toys on Saturday. I hope they have an ice bag ready for Jon's hand, cause he's gonna be a busy fellow.

myplasticheart NYCC Exclusives

myplasticheart is bringing a truckload of cool stuff to New York Comic Con and these are the first of their exclusive figures to be announced thus far. Matt Siren's Ghost Girl returns in her latest, and last, incarnation. This glow in the dark take on the classic Pac-Man bad guys will be $60 each and Matt himself will be there to sign them on Saturday.
Next up we have Kazuhiro Koguma by kaNO. This little guy will run you $18 and kaNO will also be on hand at some point to scribble his name all over it for you.
Finally, we have a pre-release for Steve Talkowski's Sketchbot Variant 5. Steve will be at the con and will make his way to the myplasticheart booth at some point to meet the fans and sign his toy. These will be $35, which is a pretty good price considering how big they are.

Kidrobot at New York Comic Con

For the second year in a row Kidrobot will be gracing the floor of New York Comic Con with it's vinyl presence and will be bringing along a few exclusives. There will be glow in the dark versions of the Street Fighter Blanka figure as well as of the South Park Dead Kenney. What has me intrigued and ready to whip out my credit card is the Yankee Pig Dog 7-inch Labbit Biological Warfare Edition by Kronk. The last time they did a special Labbit release was when Amanda Visell added her style to the Kozik icon and both of them were there to sign them when it was released. Could we see a Kozik/Kronk tag team signing event? I just pooped a little thinking about it.

Buff Monster's The Destroyer Eyes Edition

Buff Monster and The Loyal Subjects are about to unleash the "Eyes" version of his popular Destroyer figure this Friday, September 23rd. This think is 14" of pink plastic epicness that deserves a place of honor amongst your toy collection (and mine too, so if you're feeling generous, I am not above accepting donations). There are only 200 of them in the whole wide world and they will be $110. Order yours (and mine?) by clicking here.

Super 7 Teaser

When I was in third grade this kid and I got into an argument and for some reason he proceeded to bite me on my arm. After a swift kick to his midsection I was then treated by the principle to a lesson is why there is no justice in the world. Years later I still cringe when thinking about my vampire attack, but this cookie dude seems like he's totally ok with getting munched on. His name is Foster and he is just that tough. The guy bitting him is named Power Mister and something tells me he wouldn't even care if his tasty little buddy was crying in pain. This Friday you can get them both and see how the rest of this epic battle plays out in your own house. Just log onto the Super 7 website on September 23rd, give em your money, and the fine folks there will be happy to send you these two little minions.

Bissy Bear from Toy2R

Uh oh, if you thought his mood was questionable before, wait until Bossy Bear gets a lady friend. From the same minds that brought you Uglydolls comes Bissy Bear, the pink half of this demanding duo. She will be available just in time for the holidays to annoy the pants off your relatives. And for only $20, it's better than wasting your money on fruitcake.

Equipped with a pair of space goggles and the Sword of Ulyssia, he mounted his Daucus: Class 8 Rocket and embarked on his quest. Now he's reached this galaxy and needs our help in his noble mission. Hear his cry for peace: 'Starbunny Fields Forever!' "

Living Dead Dolls Party at NYCC

Everybody's favorite undead children are throwing a party and they want to give you the chance to go. Dubbed "Celebrating Sin", this party will be in honor of the 13th anniversary of Living Dead Dolls. Attendees will get the exclusive doll pictured above, a glow in the dark mug, button, metal coin, and a bag full of other merch at the party. The event will take place on October 15th at a cigar lounge in Soho and only 130 people will be able to attend. Oh, and you get to rub elbows with the creators of the dolls themselves, Ed, Damien, and Mez. If it sounds like a good time to you and you have an extra $66.60 lying around (oh, I see what they did there) then head over to the Mezco website here and buy your invite.

NYCC Exclusives from Action Figure Xpress

Action Figure Xpress has announced 2 exclusives thus far that they will be bringing with them to New York Comic Con this October. The first is the Flashpoint Batman Pop! Heroes figure from Funko. As I've said before I love that popular characters are crossing over into the vinyl toy world and these are definitely the best out there.
Next up they have the Deadpool Corps Minimates. Everyone's favorite sarcastic assassin is represented in his many alternate universe incarnations. My favorite by far is Headpool, the decapitated zombie melon with the propeller hat. Look for their table at NYCC and get there quickly if you want to grab either one of these toys.

Frank Kozik x Maqet Halloween Release

After a successful run with Heathrow the Hedgehog, Kozik and Maqet have teamed up again to present Nailhead. So far this is the only image of the new project, which lacks all the finishing touches. Expect a Halloween release and hopefully a few more pictures before that.

Miles Morales Spider Man Minimate

Everyone was a buzz about the new Spider Man that made his debut recently, and the folks behind Minimates decided to get the ball rolling on his first ever figure. It won't be available until next summer, but you can check out the concept art and read Ultimate Comics Spider Man until then.

Tara Mcpherson x Cherry Vinyl

Clutter Magazine got a pretty exciting scoop with the unveiling of the George the Vampire figure from Tara Mcpherson and Cherry Vinyl! The picture is of the wax sculpt by Miss Julie B. and from what was said, the master is already in Japan for production. Cherry Vinyl will be making an appearance at New York Comic Con and will be doing a special event at Ms. Mcpherson's own Cotton Candy Machine. Could a finished product be on the horizon for this October? I reeeeeaaaaaaalllllly hope so.

Lord of the Rings Snow Troll Statue

So when I think of snow, I think of calmness and the beauty of winter. I do not however think of ugly giants roaming around looking for little bros to eat. That being said, the Snow Troll statue from Sideshow Collectables is pretty dang epic, and what else would you expect from Lord of the Rings? This monstrosity is available for preorder right now and will ship out next year. If you get one, don't be surprised if your other toys start to go missing, or if you find little plastic bones strewn about your house.

Spider Man x FDNY NYCC Exclusive Mini Mates

This is a really neat idea and kudos to the people behind Mini Mates for making it happen. The Spider Man x FDNY 2 pack will be available at this year's New York Comic Con for $8.99. If you can't make it to the con and would like to get your hands on these figures, Entertainment Earth is running a presale for them now and you will get them in the mail sometime in November.

New Goodness From Super 7

Super 7 just unveiled some brand new toys that will be available on September 16th!!!! First up is the Full Metal Jacket edition of Invisible Creature's Leroy figure. And right next to him you have the ever dapper Pocket Invisiboy. The first figure is $35, while the second is a bit less at $25. Both will be available on the Super 7 website starting at noon Pacific time this Friday.

Lady Aiko's Lady Butterfly Sculpture

I love when the lines between "art" and "toy" are blurred and that certainly is the case with this new sculpture from Lady Aiko. These stand 10" tall and were produced in Japan by Tomenosuke. If you'd like one of these to class up your He-Man collection, it's gonna set you back $550. If that didn't scare you away, then click here on September 15th and hope you're lucky enough to score one of these very limited pieces.

Boba Fett Redemption Offer

Well, now it looks like I have more than just cat food and garbage bags to pick up when I go to Target later today. Hasbro is offering an exclusive Prototype Armor Boba Fett figure when you purchase five figures from any of their Star Wars lines. If you click here, they will tell you everything you need to do to get yours.

Jesse Hernandez x Raje Toys Preview

Jesse Hernandez and Raje Toys have finally allowed us to get a glimpse of what their collaboration is going to look like. The above picture shows the first color scheme, while the picture below shows what the main sculpt will look like. No pricing or release information just yet, but how could you pas up the chance to have this guy duke it out with your Voltron toys?

Hasbro Makes First Ever NYCC Appearance

Just like the title says, Hasbro will be making their first ever appearance at New York Comic Con this year. Not many details have been released about what exclusives they might be bringing, but they do hold the rights to Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Star Wars so the potential for something amazing is pretty high.

Guest Post: Denise Vasquez

This is our first, of hopefully many, guest posts by readers and friends of our blog. Enjoy.

“I am an artist who creates because it is a part of my being” ~Denise Vasquez

Being an artist is all I’ve ever known. I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. My Mother always made sure that dance, music, art, and the theatre were in our lives. Being raised by a strong, independent, woman, who happened to be an artist, had a big influence on me, from a very early age. I began singing as soon as I could talk, dancing as soon as I could walk, drawing from the time I could hold a pencil, and writing songs and poetry as soon as I could form a sentence! All I’ve ever wanted to do is create, and all I ever wanted to be was who I am, an artist!

During my teens, I discovered it didn’t matter which medium I used, whether it be dancing, singing, writing, drawing, painting, playing the violin or guitar. Having a number of mediums on my palette meant more opportunities to do what I loved the most, create!

"Life is my canvas, experience is my palette, my creative heart, soul and imagination are my tools" ~Denise Vasquez

My obsession with customizing toys began back in 2009 when I was invited by Lucasfilm to participate in their “Empire Muggs Back: Art For A Mighty Good Cause” project. I was one of the many artists, comic Book creators, toy designers, and celebrities invited to transform a blank Mighty Mugg into a one of a kind Star Wars figure that was auctioned to benefit The Make A Wish Foundation. This was the first time I created a vinyl toy, I was VERY excited & up for the challenge! I LOVE thinking outside of the box, I LOVE crossing genres, and I LOVE creating what has NOT been done before! With all that being said, I created a Steve Sansweet Mighty Mugg. For those that don’t know Steve, he is an amazing person, who has inspired me beyond words, who also happens to be known around the world as the Ambassador of Star Wars. He was the perfect muse for my creation! I fell in love with creating vinyl toys as I was working on this project! Working 3 dimensionally is a different way of approaching, seeing & creating art and I LOVED it…I was HOOKED! You can read all about the making of my Steve Sansweet Mighty Mugg in my blog here http://denisevasquez.blogspot.com/2009/07/empire-muggs-back-art-for-mighty-good.html

As soon as I was finished with this project, I wanted to create more vinyl toys. I got on my iMac computer, went on the internet and did a Google search to learn where I could get my hands on some blank vinyl toys. I ended up going to “Kidrobot” and purchased a few of their DIY blank “Munny” vinyl toys. I became obsessed! I LOVE how the Munny’s came with a variety of surprise accessories which only added to my obsession with customizing vinyl toys!

I continued experimenting & making custom vinyl dolls for myself until I was invited to participate in another GREAT project! DKE Toys/Adfunture invited me to participate in their “Custom Yoka Show” for DesignerCon 2009. I was sent a blank vinyl Yoka and given the opportunity to not only participate in another amazing project, with some amazing artists, but I had the freedom to create whatever I wanted! I LOVE having the opportunity to create whatever character I want, in whatever genre I want! As I’m all about Peace & Love…my signature is “PeAcE LoVe aRt & sOuL”…I wanted to incorporate who I am into my art! I made a list of ideas, and for every reason, I decided to go with the Love theme! I don’t know what propelled me to use glow in the dark paint, but I’m so glad I did! That began my obsession with incorporating Glow in the dark paint into everything I created! For the Yoka tour, I created my Glow in the dark “GLOWING LOVE” yoka. To read about my process, visit my blog here http://denisevasquez.blogspot.com/2009/11/designercon-2009-dke-toys-my-custom.html

Creating my “Stan Lee POW” custom vinyl munny for San Diego Comic Con 2010 put me on another level personally as a custom vinyl toy designer. As I was going to be in “Artists Alley” for San Diego Comic Con, I wanted to create a vinyl toy that would be a show stopper at my table. I thought about where I was going, and thought about what comic con meant to me & the first thing that popped into my mind was Stan Lee! I had to create Stan Lee…he is my favorite super hero & in my opinion Stan Lee is Comic Con! I had a few days to create my Stan Lee vinyl toy, so I didn’t have time to ponder on my idea. I trusted myself, believed in my idea went for it! The response to my Stan Lee vinyl Munny during San Diego Comic Con 2010 was BEYOND incredible! I was truly living my dreams as an artist! Morgan Spurlocks’ team LOVED it when they saw it! They took photos of it, had me sign a release & it’s now FEATURED on page 89 in Morgan Spurlocks’s Book “Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope”. Everyone kept telling me I had to show it to Stan Lee & that was my ultimate goal for the convention! I took a chance, went for it & when he saw it, he totally flipped! He asked me “Where did you get this? Where can I get one?” I laughed and said “I made it”. He freaked even more & I was totally geeking out inside, Stan Lee was freaking out over my art! “He said wait you made this? This is fantastic, this is incredible” Then he asked me “What do you want to do with it?” I said “I haven’t decided yet”…He said “Great answer! Give the girl our card & take hers” He signed my doll handed it back to me told me he’d be in touch & within a month I received an invitation to meet with Stan Lee at his office in Beverly Hills! Stan Lee is now the proud owner of that vinyl doll, but I made another one for me which he signed for me & he had me sign the one that he has! Since then, I was invited to be a guest blogger on Stan Lee’s websites and my Stan Lee doll is currently the profile for Stan Lee’s myspace page http://www.myspace.com/stanleemyspace
(*0*) This is all truly BEYOND a dream come true for me!

Since them I’ve had many commissions by fans, friends, celebrities and more to create custom vinyl dolls for special events or as personal gifts.

As an artist, I’m always looking for opportunities! One day while I was browsing the internet, I landed on Conan O’Briens’ Tumblr page and saw he was looking for Fan Art. I LOVE Conan, so I decided to create a Conan O’Brien vinyl munny. I submitted an image of my final piece and it ended up being featured on Team Coco’s website in COCO MOCA The Museum of Conan Art http://teamcoco.com/moca/gallery/mixed-media/6211/conan-o-brien-his-horny-teddy, as well as being featured in “Music Connection Magazine”! When I got word that they were looking for fan art for “The Flaming C” I created a GLOW IN THE DARK “Flaming C” vinyl doll which also ended up in COCO MOCA The Museum of Conan Art http://teamcoco.com/moca/gallery/flaming-c/13269/glow-in-the-dark-flaming-c-vinyl-doll
I’m headed to the Conan O’brien show on Sept 7th with my Two vinyl dolls in hand, so we’ll see what happens with that!

I was invited to participate in “Art From A Galaxy Far Far Away” with my man Randy Martinez http://www.randymartinez.net at Hold Up Art Gallery.
For this show I brought to life my latest concept GLOW IN THE DARK Star Wars Dia De Los Muertos custom vinyl figures & a Dark Vader mask.
As I mentioned earlier, I LOVE thinking outside the box when creating art & I always enjoy crossing genres and bringing them together! I created art that represented my love for latin culture & my love for Star Wars!

Over 1,000 people showed up at the gallery for our opening reception including Paparazzi, fans, friends, artists, 501st Legion, press, celebrities and we’ve been receiving press all around the world! The response to our show has been INCREDIBLE!!! By popular demand we are having a closing reception for
“Art From A Galaxy Far Far Away”
Sept 10th 7-11pm
We are VERY excited about the response & all of the press our show is receiving all around the world!
Here are SOME of the articles & videos circulating around the globe about “Art From A Galaxy Far Far Away”…

Join us on Sept 10th 7-11pm and help us close out our show with a bang!
FYI:
All of the art is available to purchase by phone or at the gallery
*The Vader Mask will be available by phone or at the gallery in a silent auction.
The show runs thru September 15th

Jon-Paul Kaiser 36 Inch Maori Qee

This is three feet of plastic goodness from the minds of Jon-Paul Kaiser and Toy2r. The Maori Qee is joining an already awesome lineup of huge toys that were announced earlier this summer, but this is definitely my favorite of he bunch. I don't even know where I would put something this big, which is just as well because it costs $2800 and that's not happening any time soon. But one can dream, right?

Spider Man Mighty Mugg SDCC Exclusive

Anyone who missed out on the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Spider Man Mighty Mugg will now have a chance to get one. They will be available on www.hasbrotoyshop.com tomorrow, which is Wednesday for those of you whose days blend together the way mine do. These are left overs that didn't sell at the convention, so I would imagine that there won't be many for sale. Log on first thing and keep hitting that refresh button if you want to snag one.

Star Wars Train Set from the Bradford Exchange

In the old West outlaws would rob trains as a means of supporting their crazy lifestyles. In modern times, trains now rob you to support George Lucas's crazy notion that you want him to keep making changes to the original trilogy (seriously, stop trying to ruin it for me). Star Wars has teamed up with over priced collectible company The Bradford Exchange to create this galactic themed train set. For $69.99 (plus $9.99 shipping and handling) they will send you one train car and pieces of the track. It's not until your third fleecing some months later that they actually send you the power pack so you can make the whole thing work. That's $210 before you can enjoy it in any capacity. This may be he meanest post I've ever made and most of it does stem from the recent changes that Mr. Lucas has made to the movies I hold so dear. But come on guys, you couldn't have sold this thing at Target for $100?

All City Breakers 20 Pack from Kidrobot

Not long after I wrote about the blind bag versions of these, Kidrobot announces that they will also make available color coded 20 packs for $29.95 on September 15th. Now you can finally live out that modern West Side Story battle you've always dreamed about. Turf wars have never been so much fun!
