Carded Labbits from Frank Kozik x Kidrobot Out Today

Guess what day it is?  Guess what day it is?  It's Labbit Thursday!!!!!!  Sort of the same principle as taco Tuesday except you'll still be hungry after buying these.  These crazy bunnies from Frank Kozik x Kidrobot are the perfect gift for Valentine's Day or any other gift giving holiday that you feel like buying me stuff for.  And they're the bigger 2.5 inch ones just like the Marvel series and each one is only $9.99.  The question is not whether I will buy them all, but whether or not I will open them.  Frank will also have complete sets of these and his Lore of the Labbit mini series on his website tomorrow, January 31st.

Lore of the Labbit Mini Series from Frank Kozik x Kidrobot

I don't think there is a room in my house that doesn't contain at least one Labbit figure.  These things are seriously everywhere.  I think my wife just puts them in random places to see if I'll notice, or she could be trying to drive me insane for her own amusement.  They're in the kitchen, the living room, there's one on top of the bathroom mirror, in the pockets of my work pants.   I found one in a package of ham once.  They're kinda like roaches where in if you see one your house is probably infested.

But I do love these little bunnies from Frank Kozik and Kidrobot, and this may be my favorite series yet.  Based on myths and urban legends and other weird stuff that only seems to happen to hillbillies, these guys are ready to be strewn about your abode on January 30th.  Sold blind box for $4.99 each from wherever it is you prefer to buy your fancy toys.

Kidrobot at New York Comic Con

Do you remember when Kidrobot caused such a commotion at last year's New York Comic Con with the release of that RSIN Dunny that they pretty much brought their entire side of the convention center to a halt?  I do cause I was there, knee deep in it man.  Those are the kinda risks I take to have awesome stories to tell you.  Actually, when the whole thing went down I was in line at the bathroom, but I was totally in the proximity of people that had been there and were talking about it and I listened in.  I really really had to pee.

Kidrobot will be there once again and they are bringing two new releases along with a couple that are gonna look mighty familiar to folks.  The two new ones are the black version of Day of the Dead Homer and a gold Ryu figure from their Street Fighter Series.

And here are the other two.  They are the exclusives that they had with them in San Diego.  Hmmmmmmmmmmm.  I bought both retailer versions of these guys already, so I don't feel the need to buy these, but some people are kinda mad about it.  I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed that there won't be another 3 inch release like last year that caused so much fuss.  I know they're focusing a lot of energy on the Dunny Evolved series which comes out the day the convention starts, but it's always nice to have something that's special and just for the people that were able to go.  I do love both of these designs, and I own the Labbit (in a different color scheme) and the Dunny (the elephant version) but that being said their lack of freshness doesn't make me clamor to get them.  Certainly if I had never seen them before I would have to own them both, but I'm not feeling that sense of urgency.  Completists will be excited, but I have to stretch my cash as far as possible these days, so I don't really buy the different colorways of the same figure anymore.  Maybe this is more of a statement about where my collecting habits have shifted than the decision of a company to utilize the same figures (on their two most popular platforms) as exclusives at two conventions.  I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

They will have a butt ton of signings though that will make even the most jaded collector happy.  Check out the list below:

Frank Kozik Marvel Labbits Signing Tour at Kidrobot Locations

The man, the myth, the cat lover Frank Kozik will be doing a signing tour at Kidrobot locations to celebrate the release of the new Marvel Labbit mini figures.  I don't think he'll be bringing his little buddy Eddie that you see there, mostly because Kidrobot can't afford his dressing room requirements:

 -  He will only drink water that has been collected from melting polar ice caps.  Try and substitute      Aquafina and he'll cut your face off and wear it for Halloween.

-  His litter box needs to be filled with shredded currency from any country the United States is currently invading.  Canadian will work in times of peace.

-   All of his groupies need to be checked for fleas and sign extensive waivers absolving him of any legal matters that may arise from, and I quote, "how he likes to get down."

But Frank will be there and word on the street is that there might be some kind of cool poster involved in these appearances that everyone is gonna want and probably not save one for me.  That's cool, its not like I have a huge hole in my wall where I keep all of my guns/blackmail material that could use a good covering up.

Here is where you can meet Mr. Kozik:

September 11 @ Kidrobot San Francisco from 6-8pm PRE RELEASE EVENT!

September 12 @ Kidrobot New York from 6-8pm RELEASE DAY!

September 13 @ Kidrobot Boulder from 6-8pm

September 14 @ Kidrobot Los Angeles from 6-8pm

Marvel Mini Labbits from Frank Kozik x Kidrobot

Kidrobot's got a butt ton of product coming out but nothing makes me tingly the way these Marvel Labbits do.  Just look at em, dressed up like their favorite heroes and villains and ready to take on comic con.  They come out September 12th for $9.99 each blind box.  I'm gonna go ahead and buy another display case for my wall in anticipation.

Art Giants from Kidrobot

If I had stupid money, like the kind of money that would make me buy an alpaca farm, I would buy one of these.  We've all seen the giant fiberglass Labbit stools and of course I want those, but I'm really gonna need one of these 4 foot tall Dunnys.  Kidrobot has decided to offer up these guys that were previously only used as store displays.  Each one is hand made to order and takes about 3 months to produce.  And if you live in the United States they'll ship this or the stools to you for free.  The Dunnys come in a few different colors, but that may be too boring for you, so they will even help you get your favorite artist to customize it.  That won't be cheap, but if you have $4,999.99 to plunk down on a giant toy I doubt that you'll blink at paying a hefty price to get it painted up.  The stools are a little cheaper at $999 for you ballers with a budget.  I wonder why they made them stools and not just regular Labbit figures?  Not that I can afford to buy one anyway, but I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't ask the hard questions.

New Releases Tomorrow from Kidrobot

Not all of us are fortunate enough today to be among those attending San Diego Comic Con.  Some of us are geographically challenged, while so of us have bills to pay.  Whatever the reason, I know it sucks to hear about all the cool stuff that's releasing that you can't be there to snag.  I'm sitting at home, watching Jerry Springer and weeping with the rest of you.

Kidrobot has some cool releases for this year's convention and they've been nice enough to ensure that we can take advantage of at least a few of them.  Like their debut collaboration with Marvel, this Venom and Wolverine Labbit.  Here's why these guys are cool to me:  for one, I love the Labbit.  You could make a My Little Pony Labbit and I'd still be somewhat excited about it.  And secondly:  it's Marvel!  Rather than make separate figures they took the iconic characters and put them on an established platform.  It's a great way to blend the two worlds and hopefully introduce new people into the world of vinyl toy collecting.  Which is desperately needed if the toy community is gonna grow.   These are $49.99 each and release tomorrow, July 18th.

You can also pick up these new 6 inch figures of Zombie Bart and Zoidberg.  Not necessarily my thing, but hey, I can't fall in love with every chunk of plastic I meet.  I'm no toy slut.

SDCC Release and Signing Schedule from Kidrobot

Well, looks like my work here is pretty much done.  Kidrobot has just released this handy guide to their releases and signings at next week's San Diego Comic Con.  I saw the mock ups for the Marvel Labbits at Toy Fair and they look pretty killer.  They are definitely the coolest licensed items Kidrobot has released thus far.  There are, however, two releases that I really, really, really, really want.  The first one being the Locondonta 8" Dunny from Jon-Paul Kaiser.  This one is supposed to be different from the smaller version that just came out in the 2013 series but no matter what it's going to be on my wish list until I can track one down.  The second is the Keep Watch Labbit from Frank Kozik x Mishka.  Even without seeing it you know it has to be amazing.  The last two artist series Labbits that were convention exclusives were made into retail releases using different colors, so I'm hoping something similar happens with this one.  Ditto on the Dunny.
