Day of the Dead Jack and Sally Pop! Vinyl from Funko

I used to work at Hot Topic.  There, I said it.  And no, I'm not particularly proud of the fact.  I am pretty proud that I got fired for refusing to push crap on you that you don't want.  Skinny jeans are bad for your circulation and completely terrible if you're a dude.  For some reason though, teenage girls think it's the cutest thing in the world when their boyfriends wear their pants.  Let me tell you guys, they are delusional.  If we put any stock into the opinions of teenage girls everyone would have to stand and salute a picture of Justin Bieber before sporting events while one of his terrible songs played.  Is that a world we want to live in?  Nope, that's why we ignore them.

I got a little off subject there, but the point I was making is that we used to get Nightmare Before Christmas stuff in by the truckload and there were always people that would buy one of everything.  Now I like the movie don't get me wrong, but I don't have much use for a Jack Skellington thong or a toilet brush that plays the hits of Danny Elfman.  These guys, on the other hand, could occupy a space on my shelf anytime.

Jack and Sally got the Day of the Dead treatment in these new Pop! Vinyl figures from Funko and they look pretty spiffy.  You can pick them up August 1st to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the stop motion classic.

Game of Thrones Blu Ray Set with 3 Exclusive Pop! Vinyls from Funko

I just bought the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Ned Stark with removable head, and now Amazon is gonna tease me with this!  Come on guys, you're killing me here.  This November, Game of Thrones will be offered as a special Blu Ray box set featuring all 3 seasons and 3 exclusive Pop! Vinyl figures from Funko. And while these are only the mock-ups of what the final toys will look like, I'm gonna need them all.  But my problem is I already have season 1 and 2 on Blu Ray, so I'm gonna have to take drastic measures and beg someone to get me this for Christmas.  It's the only way I can justify it.  Which also means I should probably make up Christmas cards to send out featuring this on the cover and the fact that I need someone to buy it for me.  Wouldn't it make more sense for personalized holiday cards to be advertisements of what you want rather than pictures of you wearing awkward sweaters?  I think I just invented the greatest business ever.

Even More Goodness from Funko for SDCC

It must be a cool job to work at Funko.  Someone is obviously getting paid to say "how about we make this" and then watch as it happens.  Zombie Jake?  Sure.  Droids Boba Fett?  Why not?  My suggestions at work usually involve me asking someone to stop being a moron, and never once has that resulted in a toy being made.  Visit booth #5343 and beg these fine people to hire you.  And buy lots of stuff.  It will help your prospects.

More SDCC Exclusives from Funko

My last meme was such a hit I've decided to make one for every post I do about Funko's San Diego Comic Con exclusives.  I'm gonna be a busy man.

The Big Bang Theory is a show I thoroughly enjoy.  Not only is it hilarious, but they have managed to employ most of the former Roseanne cast.  It would blow my mind if they could get both actresses that played Becky into the same episode.

These super nerds are in the middle of being beamed to some strange planet.  I would love to have one of those machines.  I don't think I would use it for myself though, I probably would just throw people's car keys in it and laugh maniacally.  No one's ever accused me of being responsible with science fition technology.

Don't worry, the ladies are represented too, as Ms. Farrah Fowler will be available in an alternate outfit.

Hey it's the little dude from the Progressive Insurance commercial.  Oh, and they're in Despicable Me 2, which I haven't seen yet cause it's not on Netflix.  But when it is I'll probably watch it cause these guys are funny.  They're all shiny from their metallic paint treatment.  That Evil Minion looks liek he would make a great dental add, maybe he could be tooth decay come to life.

This little dude glows in the dark!  You could buy a ton of them and light a path to the bathroom at night!

Get these and many, many, many more at Funko's booth #5343.

First SDCC Exclusives from Funko

You can expect a bazillion of posts detailing the exclusives that Funko will have for San Diego Comic Con.  They have a list that is insanely long and they are just now starting to reveal some of what they're bringing.  Like these metallic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!  The shiny paint is so much cooler than the regular release, so I imagine these will be really popular.

Or if you prefer your toys fresh from a crime scene rather than a Saturday morning cartoon marathon, then how about some blood spattered Walking Dead figures.

Or if your more into intergalactic gore, they also have the Alien and Predator figures covered in green blood!  This is just the tip of the iceberg and will most likely cause you to go broke by the end of summer trying to track them all down.

New DC Comics Pop! Vinyl Figures from Funko

Funko has got to be tired of my shenanigans.  Every time they ask who they should make into Pop! Vinyl figures next my answer is always Harley Quinn.  Well, now I'm gonna have to think of someone else to harass them about because they're finally taking my advice.  This August you can add Ms. Quinn to your collection, along with Batman Beyond (which I'm also going to buy), Nightwing, and Darkseid.  Now if they would only release Sanford and Son figures.

More Wizard of Oz Pop! Vinyl from Funko

Do you want to know the lengths I go to in order to make this site more interesting than any other toy site on the internet?  I just watched The Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon to see if they really matched up.  Sure, I could have just paraphrased a press release, but that's not what I'm about.  I dig deeper, I relate the toys to real life, to your life.  And no, I didn't really think it matched up that well.  I also think you need a certain level of inebriation to allow the music and film to meld together into a cohesive experience.  And while I will not be tripping the light fantastic (I have a tub to caulk today) I do present you with these figures from the film.

Funko is releasing these additional figures to their Pop! Vinyl Wizard of Oz line in August.  And it's also the 75th anniversary of the film that has warmed the hearts of children and drive mad the minds of stoners.  If you've never read the books by Gregory Maguire that deal with the origin stories of the various characters you really should.  You'll have an entirely different outlook on the film afterwards.  And thus we have concluded The Toy Viking Book Club for June.

Pop! Vinyl Exclusives from Gemini Collectibles and Funko

If you've watched the new season of Arrested Development, you will have a new appreciation for this figure.  Don't worry, I'm not going to ruin it for any of you that for one reason or another have failed to watch it.  I have enough friends that consistently ruin shows for me on Facebook that I would never consider doing that to you.

Funko and Gemini Collectibles are offering up this black and white version of everyone's favorite rock man from the Fantastic Four.  Preorders have started now and you can get in on it by visiting http://www.geminicollectibles.net/.  You can also preorder the bronze patina version of The Rocketeer.  Both figures are $16.99 and will be arriving in July.

Watchmen Pop! Vinyl from Funko

I would like to thank the good people at Funko for covering Dr. Manhattan's ding a ling for this toy.  I'm not sure what possessed the people that made The Watchmen movie to include that in the film.  Where they planning to make a spin-off?  Like when Joey moved to California after Friends ended to pursue his acting career?  I'm embarrassed I know that.

Do I write a lot about Pop! Vinyl figures?  Yes, but maybe other companies should step up their games and be as prolific as Funko is.  Of course it's not just about releasing a lot of stuff, it's about releasing quality stuff that people want to buy.  Well, they've kinda nailed that too, because I'm going to be getting both of these.  And I don't have to worry about not eating lunch all week to pay for them, cause they're usually around $10.  These two will be released June 20th.

New Walking Dead Pop! Vinyl from Funko

I'm about to admit something that will probably make a lot of you mad and may even get me deported.  I don't like The Walking Dead.  There,  I've said it to all 6 of you.  The benefit of admitting such a thing on the internet is that I can go about the rest of my day without having to be looked at as if I just admitted to kicking a puppy.  I also don't have to answer questions like "but what's wrong with you?" or "do you have a vitamin deficiency?"   Here are my problems with the show.  For one, I could care less about zombies.  You want to know when the zombie apocalypse is coming?  If you've ever seen anyone who thinks they have "swag" or have ever used the term "yolo" while clearly not being ironic, then you would know it's already here.  And the second reason I don't like it is because everybody is essentially the exact same person.  What makes a scenario like this interesting is the diversity of the characters.  The people of their group come from all walks of life, but over time they have all morphed into people who are just trying to survive and have lost a lot of what makes them unique.  It was far more interesting when they would have moral issues with killing the zombies, or when they would still question what was going on in the first place.  Now its just accepted as normality.

The lone bright spot of The Walking Dead for me are the product tie ins.  They're are some clever ones out there, but I think the Pop! Vinyl toys from Funko are the best.  Why?  Because you could make anything as a Pop! Vinyl figure and it automatically becomes cool.  They could make a Charles Manson one and it would be adorable.   Even if it's something I'm not into, I come close to buying one of these whenever I see them.  These will be released July 11th.  And I still love you even if you like The Walking Dead.  But just as friends though.  Stop trying to kiss me.

Maskless Deadpool Pop! Vinyl from Funko

It's a good thing Deadpool has a sense of humor, cause he's not winning anyone over with that face.  This scarred Pop! Vinyl figure from Funko will come in grey and red suited versions and will be available next month.  Of course you could preorder them now, forget about it, then be traumatized when the box gets to your house and this carved up face is staring back at you.  It's like added value or something.
