Kidrobot x Marvel DIY Munny Series

The do-it-yourself aspect of toys have really blown up in the past few years and it seems like everyone is adding their special touch to figures of one sort or another.  But if you're like me, your skills as an artist may not be something you're ready to share with the world just yet.  Never fear fellow toy maker wannabes, there is a solution.

Kidrobot and Marvel are expanding on their already much talked about product launches with these DIY Munnys.  You can choose from Spiderman, Venom, Wolverine, or Iron Man and each one comes with foam stickers that you can use to bring the characters to life.  Use them as a jumping off point to further enhance your painting skills, or just leave them as they are and decorate your house with your favorite super heroes.  They will be making various sizes of the figures, but these 7 inch ones release this Thursday, July 25th, for $19.99 each.

New Stuff from Taylored Curiosities

What some of you may or may not know is that I also like to collect weird stuff.  See, my whole life isn't just about toys.  In particular I like old medical stuff, but one thing I can never bring myself to own are the specimens in liquid-filled jars.  I moved a lot as a kid and as a result things inevitably get broken.  I would have this fear that if we ever moved the jar would either break or the lid would come off and I would have to throw away everything that got wet.  Pretty gross right?  Or if I had it on my shelf that would be the one thing the cats became interested in and would knock it over, forcing me to declare my house forever unclean and burn it to the ground.

These guys are perfectly fine though, cause they're nice and dry.  Taylored Curiosities bottled up some Morrow specimens so you can start your own cabinet of wonders.  Amaze your diner guests!

And I bet you were wondering how she could make Morrows even cuter.  Wonder no more dear reader, as she has packaged three in a pea pod!  Get yourself a little adorableness in your life today by going to http://tayloredcuriosities.bigcartel.com/.

Custom Demon Micro Negora from Max Toy Co. x Soko Cat

This guy would totally reminds me of my cat Icarus if instead of a fish he was holding a human skull.  See, Icarus is the evil genius of the three we have.  He even invented his own game of hunting down dust bunnies and putting them on the floor vents, then he waits for the air conditioning to kick on and shoot them up in the air where he can chase them.  It's pretty amazing.  So I have no doubt that as soon as he figures out how to access our bank account and get food delivered that my wife and I will mysteriously disappear.  If you don't hear from me for a week please notify the proper authorities.

Soko Cat painted up five of these Max Toy Co. Micro Negoras an is now offering them up for sale in her webstore.  Check out http://sokocat.storenvy.com/ and get yourself a kitty that has no secret agenda to kill you.

More Mimobots for SDCC

You know what's great about Mimobots?  Besides the fact that they're useful, and cute, and made to look like all the characters you love?  They're small!  So not only can you collect every one and not have to sell your furniture to make space, but when you buy all these new releases at San Diego Comic Con you won't throw out your back carrying them all.  There's nothing worse than injuring yourself, falling to the floor in pain, and being trampled on by 2,000 people dressed as Pokemon.  If you can't make it to SDCC you can go right now to http://www.mimoco.com/ and secure them all there.

Anticristo 666 from Frank Mysterio

Well this is frightening.  Frank Mysterio revealed his new figure last night with this unpainted black edition of 10 at San Diego Comic Con.  Sculpted by Chauskoskis, Anticristo 666 is the stuff of nightmares.  And he looks like a lot of the women around here who are obsessed with tanning.  They get all leathery and football like and they swear they're attractive when really they look like chicken that you forgot about in the oven.

It's a great look for a hell spawn, not so much for a woman.

This is merely the debut of this figure, so expect lots of different color variations in the future.

My Top 10 Things I Want from SDCC

It seems the popular thing to do on blogs is to create lists.  Fearing criminal prosecution from most of the lists I would like to post, I instead decided to make a list of 10 things I would like to own from San Diego Comic Con.  These are in no particular order.

Anytime someone around me is complaining of any physical ailment I always tell them that their symptoms are consistent with that of a tapeworm living in their gut.  Thus far, I have only been successful at getting one person to actually go to the doctor with this concern, but I keep trying.

Ferg x Grody Shogun made this Young Gohst with a major parasitic issue for Lulubell Toy Bodega's booth #5045.  Get one on Saturday for $45.

Ferg also made this big ol suicidal cat for Rotofugi's booth #5248 starting tonight for $120.

I pretty much want everything Frank Kozik makes, but I narrowed it down to two things I really really really want.  First up is the hand painted Mr. Monsanto.  This releases tomorrow at 2pm at his booth #5051 for $100.

The second thing is this Mishka collaboration Labbit from Kidrobot.  I haven't even seen what it looks like but I know it's a must have.  These will be $99.99 at booth # 4995 on Saturday at noon.

It all of a sudden got real cute in here.  Balance is the key to life my friends, so I've gotta balance out the blood and guts with some sugar and spice.  Brandi Milne's Sugar Lamb, Go! fits the bill.  For $90 you can get this at 3DRetro's booth #5051.

Also from 3DRetro comes this little ice cream dude from Gary Baseman.  He's only $55, which I think is a deal.

Retro Outlaw has given the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter a new mission:  jump over Snake Canyon on your motorcycle, while on fire, while watching Breaking Bad on Netflix.  Piece of cake, dummies.  Visit booth #929, give 'em $120, and live forever in glory!

Classic He-Man figures with Charles Manson heads and custom paint jobs from Skinner? Yeah, I'll take one of those.  DKE will be selling 50 of these, each one unique, for $150.  Get one Friday at 11am.

Speaking of Skinner, look at these guys.  He designed the one on the left while Paul Kaiju designed the one on the right and sculpted them booth.  Get the set for $55 from Lulubell Toy Bodega booth #5045 on Friday.

Last, but certainly not least, is this 8 inch Dunny from Jon-Paul Kaiser x Kidrobot.  Again, who knows what it looks like, but who cares!  It's not gonna suck.  Get one Friday at noon from booth #4945.

Well there you have it.  I'm sure I forgot some stuff.  As always, presents are always appreciated and tax deductible.***

***Probably not though

New Releases Tomorrow from Kidrobot

Not all of us are fortunate enough today to be among those attending San Diego Comic Con.  Some of us are geographically challenged, while so of us have bills to pay.  Whatever the reason, I know it sucks to hear about all the cool stuff that's releasing that you can't be there to snag.  I'm sitting at home, watching Jerry Springer and weeping with the rest of you.

Kidrobot has some cool releases for this year's convention and they've been nice enough to ensure that we can take advantage of at least a few of them.  Like their debut collaboration with Marvel, this Venom and Wolverine Labbit.  Here's why these guys are cool to me:  for one, I love the Labbit.  You could make a My Little Pony Labbit and I'd still be somewhat excited about it.  And secondly:  it's Marvel!  Rather than make separate figures they took the iconic characters and put them on an established platform.  It's a great way to blend the two worlds and hopefully introduce new people into the world of vinyl toy collecting.  Which is desperately needed if the toy community is gonna grow.   These are $49.99 each and release tomorrow, July 18th.

You can also pick up these new 6 inch figures of Zombie Bart and Zoidberg.  Not necessarily my thing, but hey, I can't fall in love with every chunk of plastic I meet.  I'm no toy slut.

Polka Dot Porcelain Skull from NooN x K. Olin Tribu

I've been reading that book The Devil in the White City about the murderer H.H. Holmes and the Chicago World's Fair.  Pretty fascinating stuff, but one of the more interesting things I learned about was this organization called The Whitechapel Club.  Named after the area in London where Jack the Ripper committed his crimes, this was a group of reporters who gathered to talk about the grisly crimes of the day.  Their meeting place was filled with crime scene items given to them by the local police and real human skulls taken from the bodies of unclaimed asylum patients.  I think that if they had a member with a knack for design this could have been the direction their decor would have taken.

NooN and K. Olin Tribu have released this newest edition in their line of craniums, only this time they adorned it with polka dots.  Be one of the lucky people to own this by going to http://www.artandtoys.com/.

Munky King Exclusives for SDCC

I would most definitely fight a horde of nerds for this figure.  It features two of my favorite things: blood and guts.  Luke Cheuh and Jason Freeny teamed up to help this bear learn all about his insides.  Munky King produced 100 of these for Comic Con and each was hand made.  It is stunning to say the least and in my top 10 of must haves from this year's convention.  I wouldn't tell if they wanted to sell me one right now.

Doktor A doesn't make anything that isn't insane to look at and this might be his craziest piece yet.  What is nice about this is that it is listed as the Autumn Amble Edition, which would lead one to believe that future releases for us unable to make it to San Diego will occur.

This guy is kinda neat.  Anthony Ausgang released a similar version of this years ago, but he and Dave Pressler have changed up the sculpt and made 50 of them available in this uber limited edition.  Kitty gonna go boom.

Get all three of these by visiting the folks from Munky King at their booth.

Perorder Bullet Belt from Skinner x Unbox Industries Now!!!!!

This elephant would like you to know that if you try to take his tusks to carve into opium pipes he will fillet you like a fish and use your skin to make new chaps.  This is Bullet Belt and he was birthed from the twisted mind of Skinner and forged in plastic by Unbox Industries.  This is one bad toy.  And he comes with a little buddy figure, so you can finally live out your dream of making the sequel to Twins.

Preorders for this behemoth have started now and will last until July 31st. They are making these dudes to order, so don't expect to stumble upon one by walking into a shop, cause it won't happen.  Go to http://unboxindustries.bigcartel.com/ to get one now or forever disappoint your mother.

The Burntwood Bears from Cris Rose x Lunabee

Cris Rose and Lunabee have created an entire fantasy world called Nemori and are releasing custom figures based on the characters that inhabit this place.  Their first release actually happens today when they drop these Burtwood Bears figures.  Get one for yourself by going to http://nemori.bigcartel.com/ at 6pm London time.

More SDCC Releases from Squibbles Ink x Rotofugi

What am I gonna do with myself once all this Comic Con stuff is over with?  Maybe I'll write a novel, or start a motorcycle gang.  There's been so much stuff to talk about and I can't keep up with it all, so maybe I'll just take more naps to rest my weary brain.  Making every post this sexy takes work my friends.

Squibbles Ink and Rotofugi have a bunch more plastic thingys that I haven't told you about yet and that I'm gonna do right now.  Like this Vesper Dredge from Brian Morris.  Kinda freaky, like some back woods totem worshiped by mixed up hillbillies.  Or to reference my childhood, Christmas time with family.  We would dance around this guy right before we burned our Christmas witches.  For $65, you can start your own holiday traditions.

Chris Ryniak's Snybora figure is always a good buy.  At times he looks cute.  At times he looks murderous.  It just depends on what angle you look at him from.  Decide for yourself for $38.

This guy was also designed by Chris Ryniak and would make a perfect companion piece to the Snybora figure.  You could reenact all of the Lethal Weapons movies and put them on Youtube.  This guy is obviously Danny Glover.  It's $108 for the painted one, and $75 for a blank pink one.

As soon as the folks at the Discovery Channel hear about a marshmallow yeti they're gonna make a reality show about trying to find one.  The show will be filled with stupids that hear sounds that no one else does and see things that no one else does.  "Wait, did you hear that?'' No, no one heard that.  Even with all the high tech electronics you have it did not pick up the mating call you swear you heard.  You're a liar or you need medication.

This Sparkle Yeti Mini Marshall is real though. It was made by 64 Colors and is a bargain at only $9.  Good luck finding a parking space for cheaper.

Max Toy Co. will also be there with a plethora of customs and production figures to fit every budget.  And this isn't even everything they're gonna bring.  Kaiju, Kaiju, Kaiju!!!!!!!

Get it all at booth #5248.

Frank Kozik Customs at SDCC

We've seen all the cool production stuff that Frank Kozik will have available at Comic Con, but hat if you want something more personal?  Something that was made with a gentle touch, a skillful eye, and all while making the face of grumpy cat?

Then you're in luck, cause Mr. Kozik has two hand painted releases that await your cash monies.  Mr. Monsanto up there is a very important squid.  He has power, he has influence, he has a green pimp suit.  Only 25 were made and they will be $100 each.

This pleases the heathen gods of tremolo picking and corpse paint.  It's a Black Metal Mishka Bootleg!!!!!!  You can't see it, but I just spit blood all over my computer when I typed that.  I like to get into chracter to make everything more authentic.  13 of these were brought into this world and for $200 you can help separate them so their true power will never be realized.  Or so that Frank has room for more cats.

Get these and much much more at booth #5051.

Even More Goodness from Funko for SDCC

It must be a cool job to work at Funko.  Someone is obviously getting paid to say "how about we make this" and then watch as it happens.  Zombie Jake?  Sure.  Droids Boba Fett?  Why not?  My suggestions at work usually involve me asking someone to stop being a moron, and never once has that resulted in a toy being made.  Visit booth #5343 and beg these fine people to hire you.  And buy lots of stuff.  It will help your prospects.
